I was surprised when he called me yesterday as the way things were going I expected not to see it finished this side of Christmas. Pretty exciting I must say when it is finally done. jeff43 Posted December 1, 2018 Author Posted December 1, 2018 Hi All, quick update on the reassembly process. All small steps but very satisfying all the same. I just can't bring myself to put dirty old looking parts back on a freshly painted car. The brake and fuel lines took a lot of time to clean and I had to resort to sand paper to clean all 48 yrs of grime and rust from them. I feared after cleaning them up that they would just rust if I left them the way they were and I liked the look of "Katokid's" black fuel lines on his safari gold car, so matt black painted lines was the go. I'm very happy with the way the engine bay is coming along, I cleaned up and painted the brake booster the same and the new master cylinder came black already so that worked out well. I decided against the rubber in the fuel filler area as I prefer the clean look and will just be super careful when I will up. Zedhead, AndBir, Ponyo240z and 1 other 4 Quote

jeff43 Posted December 24, 2018 Author Posted December 24, 2018 I needed to paint my extractors, the product instructions said to bake after painting @ 200 Deg C for 1hr. I don't have an oven big enough to do that and I'm sure the wife wouldn't be happy with that. So when I saw the weather forecast for the next week I decided it was now or never and prepped the extractors for paint. I'm not sure how much work will get done in the tin shed over the next week, maybe a bit late at night when the sun has gone down. jeff43 Posted January 4, 2019 Author Posted January 4, 2019 Just a few pics from today. The engine wiring loom has had a clean and been fitted, along with the air intake ducts. I also finally fitted my wilwood proportioning valve in the stock location ( for an early car) at the rear underside above the RH half shaft. Just a quick note on the Wilwood brakes and the proportioning valve fitment etc. Wilwood do not make a proportioning valve with the correct thread and flare to fit directly to our Datsun's. After a lot of searching I did manage to find a set of adaptors which allowed me to fit the valve without needing to change brake line fittings and redo the flare on the brake line. I have added the ebay link below, I hope it can help other people in the future.
