mossy Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 Good idea Jeff, that could be a lot of cash saved to go into other areas of your build. Quote

jeff43 Posted March 24, 2019 Author Posted March 24, 2019 I thought it was time for an update. I have been doing lot's of little bits an pieces that didn't really feel worthy of an update and then all of a sudden it feels like a fair bit has happened so without further delay I will let the pics do the talking. Sorry told a lie, I should explain what happened with my dashboard. So I went and saw the place that was doing the restoration of my dashboard and once they had a really good look at it they decided it was beyond economic repair, i.e. it would cost too much to repair (possibly as many as 50 man hours of labor). So I have started doing a DIY repair and I will update later with the finished results. The best part is that I save a heap of cash and at least now I am in control of how long it will take to repair. Cheers Jeff CBR Jeff 1 Quote
George Posted March 24, 2019 Posted March 24, 2019 Killing it! Putting my progress effort to shame as always. Come pick me up for a drive in a couple of weeks. I'm sure it'll be done by then at this rate. Quote

I'm on a mission George, I want it driving by the beginning of May and I have a definite appointment with Cars and Coffee Barossa on 26 May 19, so no time to Dilly Dally. I would come pick you up but I would need a week of work for that round trip, maybe some go-pro footage will have to do. George 1 Quote

Not much of the built not bought brigade! Sounds a bit different to the only one I have been too. We took Vorn's 920 gold car to the inaugural Barossa C & C late Jan. It was a good turn out, 120+ cars, Lot's of Holden and Ford, some American muscle, 90's JDM and a splattering of everything else. We found there was a lot of interest in the 240Z once the crowd thinned out a bit - I don't think they could see it parked between a VB commodore and an XB Falcon - it's just so small. Quote
JDM-TOY Posted March 24, 2019 Posted March 24, 2019 @jeff43 seriously mate well done. So timeless, great effort Quote

jeff43 Posted March 29, 2019 Author Posted March 29, 2019 Hatch is fitted!!!! The vents are just sitting there at the moment, I'm planning to paint them matt black for the time being and look to get a set of new ones in the near future. I hope to get the doors built up and fitted over the weekend and then get back to work on the dashboard, stayed tuned. George, OdinZ and KatoKid 3 Quote

jeff43 Posted March 29, 2019 Author Posted March 29, 2019 Thanks Peter, Yes progress is going well and I hope it's ready sooner rather than later but there will always be something that will hold me up, I'm sure. Cheers Jeff Quote

jeff43 Posted March 31, 2019 Author Posted March 31, 2019 Weekend progress update. It feels like slow going but this stuff just takes time. Don't mind the hours spent trying to find some of the parts for the drivers door and I still haven't found them, they have to be in the shed somewhere but god only knows where. So passenger side door is back together and fitted, I still have a bit of work to do on panel alignment but not fitting too bad. Drivers quarter window back in with new inner and outer seals. Fuel filler panel fitted and a few other bits and pieces. George, KatoKid, GongZ and 1 other 4 Quote
jeff43 Posted March 31, 2019 Author Posted March 31, 2019 I'm hoping that the suspension will settle once I have driven it so it doesn't continue to look like a 4WD. It has brand new Lovells "low" springs fitted so it should sit considerably lower than it does in the pics. Well here's hoping anyway. GongZ 1 Quote
GongZ Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 Superb work Jeff! Your seats look perfect. Did you install new covers, or have them done? Most seats I have seen end up with wrinkles at neck height (as shown in the pic below). What is your secret? Quote
jeff43 Posted March 31, 2019 Author Posted March 31, 2019 (edited) The PO had them done by a local auto upholstery place, so no secret sorry, well not a secret I know anyway. Edited March 31, 2019 by jeff43 Pronounciation GongZ 1 Quote

jeff43 Posted April 14, 2019 Author Posted April 14, 2019 (edited) A bit more progress this weekend. The front end is together except for headlights and front bar. The dash is getting close to being ready to paint and reassemble. My scuff plates were pretty rough so they got a clean up and a Matt black refresh. A few more weeks should see her ready for a shake down drive. Enjoy!!!! Edited April 14, 2019 by jeff43 George, Gtv240z, Sirpent and 1 other 4 Quote
Sirpent Posted April 14, 2019 Posted April 14, 2019 (edited) Something about that color on a Z, dont suit the majority of cars out there but on a Z it just makes everything pop Great work Jeff Edited April 14, 2019 by Sirpent Spelling Quote

No arguments here. In the early 90's A gentleman bought a E31 head off me, he pulled in my drive way in a 918 orange 240Z and from that day on I have always loved the colour. Cheers Jeff Quote
