Some videos of my mate Ricky's 240z at Hampton Down a few weekends ago. First handicap race he started in 24th in a grid of 27 got to 8th in the 8 laps. Changes made for this outing new 4.375 R200 I sourced and one of my LSD centres this was changed to make up for the change of RIM size from the group buy of 15x8 +10 Rota RK-R I arranged here in NZ, down from 16 due to class rules plus up in total size from 225/45/16 to 235/50/15.

2nd handicap race SC in the middle of the race....watch how close things get around lap 3.

Same race but from the MG V8 Ricky just pasted.

Screw you guys - I'm moving to NZ...!

Interesting. Was somewhat cringeworthy but somehow had to watch from start to finish.

They DESTROYED that car. Even if it wasn't a Datsun, I'd still look at it as destroyed. The "Allstars" are not. They need to have their wrenches taken away, most of the builds they do are garbage, and completely ruin the cars. They haven't learned about the idea that "less is sometimes more".

I watched a few episodes of that show when they first aired, including the 240Z episode. They are all about drama and not about the actual builds.

Haha, if only they used all those skills, parts and money to build it a little more tastefully.....

I think if some Jap guys had got their hands on it, or the show was made in Japan, youd see some pretty cool results. Even on hybrid Z, the yanks cars mostly seem to be lairy and lack subtleness and style. There are a few exceptions, but on the whole thats the case.

On a side note, the carbon stuff was very cool. I loved the console.

My mate Ricky from this weekends racing. Last race of the day for him - a reverse grid so he started 70 seconds behind the first car - he cut out the first 4-5 laps from the video as it was just him playing catch up on his own - so this is the last 4 laps.

The gird is the HMC combined with Under 3.0l Pre 78 Saloons and GTs. HMC = Historic Muscle Cars. The aim of these grids it to have period correct cars running together with only mods available in period so 15" rims is one of the leveling factors.

Gav how about putting in the youtube bbc into the forum - see http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=936

Great video with extensive performance comparisons between a 370Z and RB26 240Z.

Nissan Project 370Z vs 1970 Datsun 240Z with RB26 Track Battle!

Many months ago, Nissan asked their fans to help them create the ultimate 370Z track car. They called it Project 370Z. To put it to the test, Nissan fans were asked to vote for a challenger to compete against it. They chose a 1970 Datsun 240Z with an RB26 engine transplant built by Gordon MacSwain. On this episode of The Downshift, we head to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for an epic David vs Goliath battle between these two amazing machines.
