260DET Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Yes, it was far from a perfect lap eg the Caroussel exit. But even so danger is always lurking, just the the other day a WRX went off at the Kink and was totalled, at well over 200kph it has to be got right every single time.. Quote

Nifty didn't mention the Evo above him, LOL. He used to be a fine Datsun man down here but turned to the dark side when he moved up to Qld and brought the Kobota.. It's funny how different tracks can be, we've had R-spec tyred, Rwd, turbo 4 cyl cars doing times better than DJ in his Seirra for years now and I expect Scando to be there or quicker when he get's the RB30 up and running hence the dig at Nev being slower than a Commadore and being no where near DJ. Then again Symmons Isn't that technical, just brakes and power. Mate you should cut a track at Phillip Island! Quote

Four runs that day which is plenty for me, the concentration span you know......... The old tourers around Lakeside were magic to watch, flat out rally style driving side by side and you could spectate from a few meters away Plan on bringing the Z down to Phillip Island for the 2013 Nats for a run, should suit the car but I will be happy just to get some cheap thrills and not break anything. It has a 3.9 diff so that should be OK, a 4.1 would be better at Lakeside but diff ratios are not the limiting factor there. You will be doing the Nats I assume? Quote

A bit off topic sorry but I just wanted to give you a heads up. What does your engine rev to and what size wheels are you running? When I went there I had a 3.7 in the car which I thought would be fine and it was hitting the limiter with about 1/3 of the straight still to go! My limiter was 6,500rpm though so I assume yours would rev a fair bit harder. I was running 255/40 17's. I switched to a 3.54 for the 2nd day and it was still just tapping the limiter at the end of the straight. The car was only making about 400hp then too so a fair way off what yours is making. It's a big straight and you're pulling close to 200kph as you come onto it! You guys will have a ball. Best track I've driven on by a long way and I'm very envious because I don't think I will make it to the nationals. Quote
