Everyone knows all the famous old rally cars ended up in Tassie...no ex works 240z's down here, LOL...no 30 is the closest we have!! According to the yearbook, Frank ran what was reported as 'ex works 240z' in round 2 'Classic Rally' with a blown diff DNF, then equal 2nd in the next round the 'Bunbury Curran' rally, then another blown diff DNF in the 'Bega rally' whilst leading on the last stage..bugger. No mention of them in the 5th round report but had an outright win in the mighty Alpine rally in the ex works Southern cross 180B SSS. There are also some photo's of Tony Pond's and Shekhar Mehta's works 240Z's in the Southern Cross of that year if you need a copy Cheers Hodgo

It's weird how things work out sometimes, I found this mag whilst looking for something else last week, read it and worked out that one of the previous owners of your car, Ric Kemp, just did my shocks up and gave me some very good advise...now I see this! bloody small world. Sadly I don't have a spare 50g's sitting around. Cheers Hodgo

In '77 Yearbook Dunco's car is always listed as a 240z in the results of the ARC (1976) which he won and the car has 4080 plates and LHd. The 76 Castrol International Rally he is listed as 3rd outright, with Nissan Australia as the entrant, behind George Fury in 2nd in a works 710sss and Greg Carr in 1st in a private entry 180sss.

Just dragged out the '74 Competition Yearbook and there is a photo of 8075 competing in the first round of the 73 ARC where it ended up 6th.

Thanks guy's I've just upped the spring rates a heap, so maybe I'll try it with out a bar to see how it goes. I can get one made, but they are pretty expensive, I just thought maybe someone had one laying about unused? Cheers Hodgo

G'day Guy's, I'm chasing a 18mm rear sway bar to suit a 240z and the little 'hinge' bits that hold it into the bracket. If you have one lying around please give me a shout, Cheers Hodgo

Was the launch date for the 240z in Aust Oct 1970? That makes over 100 cars sold per month, 3 a-day-ish...

A bit of in-car from Targa Gorge, it's the second half of a return run. We get a little excited towards the end when we catch a Daytona Coupe!! Cheers

LOl yeah I hope so! both the driveline breakages were my fault, I've now worked out if you light it up in 1st, don't grab 2nd.....anyway who breaks a R200? no one!!

Howdy, I scored some great shots from Targa Gorge, held in early Feb I thought I might share. Mrs Blue and I entered the 'Rookie classic' section, with a free entry into Targa Tas, it was a pretty big carrot!! We were having a great run, over one and a half minute up on 2nd and two stages to go when we broke a rocker, which, along with the lash pad disappeared into the engine, it also back fired that hard it bent the brass butterfly in the throttle body....so we parked it. If anyone is thinking about doing a tarmac event, this is ripper, only 45 minute from the boat and a great piece of road. Thankfully Poatina hillclimb was been postponed which gave us a chance to lift the engine and drop the sump, we found both broken bits complete, with no other damage to the engine, PHEW!! with the sump off Leeroy measured the oil level and found with 6.5 litres in the Arizona Zed alloy sump the crank was dragging in the oil, so now only run 5.5 litres. With no other changes, other than seat time, we went .8 of a second quicker at the Highcleare hillclimb the next weekend, not far behind a very 'traction challanged' Mighty Mick in the V8, and .5 of a second off the class C record. On the last run I blew the diff centre, which was basically the last original part left in the car...so I've dragged out the old 4.6 r180 weldie to try at Barrington early next month. Another degree of camber might be on the cards... Cheeers Hodgo

Love your last line Ozzie240!! I'd also add..' or a Cosmo.." LOL

Top drive last Saturday 'Hoppy', man those Ls-1 clutches must be light! If I was you, I wouldn't worry about new tyres for Barrington....

Basically it comes down to the buyer, If you were looking at two identical Zed's to buy, one was 1019 and one was 19 how much more would you pay for the plate? Georges car will be a good investment in the future. Most of the early cars, under no.50, are race cars, far from original condition and you know with Paul doing the body rebuild, no.19 will be a top car.

Howdy Pal, go the zed!!

Lol for sure Scando, I brought a new bottle after the old Loctite leaked through my tool box, bugger. I ran the tap through the captive nut and brought new bolts as well, so hoping this fix's it. The poor old 200b is a bit un-loved...It's a good thing in real life. Check out the brands on Mrs Blues new race horse, purely by coincidence.

I mate popped this on youtube from Highcleare. I'm slowly learning the importance of a full 'spanner check' after every event, the rear suspension/diff cradle had come loose again after loosing bolts from it at the Baskerville Historics. I'm thinking the solid diff mount might have something to do with it... We are working towards the Targa Gorge event in early Feb, aprox 100km competitive, then Poatina Hillclimb the weekend after, approx. 60km competitive. Also a couple more photo's from the event. The yellow 200b is Leeroy's 2.4 weapon and the Skyline is Nath's gravel rally car.

Thanks for that HKSZ, I just spent a very enjoyable hour watching Kev in-car on Youtube. Man what a weapon! Cheers Scando, I'm glad you and the Academy enjoyed it. LOL How did your in car come out Mick? I'm thinking we should do a Baskerville clubday soon!
