Thanks Rich, that's him! man what an entry!, I'm used to 35 cars being a huge day!! how many runs did you get? great to see you nailed Danny's Escort and Scotty Taylor his A9x. Nifty didn't mention the Evo above him, LOL. He used to be a fine Datsun man down here but turned to the dark side when he moved up to Qld and brought the Kobota.. It's funny how different tracks can be, we've had R-spec tyred, Rwd, turbo 4 cyl cars doing times better than DJ in his Seirra for years now and I expect Scando to be there or quicker when he get's the RB30 up and running hence the dig at Nev being slower than a Commadore and being no where near DJ. Then again Symmons Isn't that technical, just brakes and power. Mate you should cut a track at Phillip Island!

Hey guy's, excuss my ignorence, but what's a quick time around Lakeside?, my old mate nifty Nev did a 56.7 in his WRX and got a bit shirty when I said he wasn't as quick as Larry Perkins in 1988 in his VL, he promply went out and did a 56.22 the next weekend. He say's it a big balls track, looks like a lot of fun, Hodgo

LOL, a bit like the photo below Gareth, but with more Starch and Carbs...and on a Zed, not a cat. The roof vent might be a good spot to mount the Dark One? Again all ticking along nicely, trying to do a little bit each day. Tell me guy's, I'm cleaning up the front indicators which have a clear lens and and a twin filement bulb, does the indicator flash clear(White) not orange and is this legal?

Oh and Jase, I still have 10 litres of the old high lead dark green Avgas tucked away in the shed, I'll bring it with me along with a couple of old 62's for the 'Y

Why not keep it simple guy's, buy one good trophy and make it worth winning...simple 'Fastest Datsun'. No arguments, if it goes to an RB, FJ or Ls powered Zed, or a SR, Rotary powered 1600 or a 1Jz(Whatever) powered 1200 ute so be it and a very well done to them.

....Darth Spud is very pleased with his new Ion cannons, He's thinking he can now attack the planet Ro-Tary in the Wankle System with some success... Things are moving along nicely, motor and box are in and should have the diff back next week...Injection Guru's been up and had a measure up, Auto Sparky is coming up today for a 'look', hopefully It doesn't scare him tooo much, lined up my fabrication genius mate to add a few mm to the front arms, and will pop around to Edwin's and pull my race seats out of his rolled Escort... New Rare Spare door rubbers are in, door cards back after a bit of repair work, new bushes and boot for the gear stick, Redline 'Smurf blood' oil for the gearbox, New Bosche fuel pump is here (Thank's Pete). Seal kits for the Volvo calipers are proving an issue...not avalible I've been told by two sources..so an AZcar kit might is on the list. If it all fall's into place hopefully I can get it to the big Historic meet at Baskerville in mid Oct and scare a few chap's in flat hat's.... Hodgo

When we were emailing Torsen a couple of years ago about my centre, they suggested to use a GL-4/GL-5 type oil, as it's not a plate type centre. I got the oil nerd in the factory I worked at to look it up and he suggested Castrol EPX 85w140, BP Hypogear 85w140 or Shell Spirax A 85w140. The guy doing up my diff kept the Shell Spirax A in stock for a Quick Tarmac rally R34 GTR he worked on, so we are going to go with this. Might be worth a quick email to Torsen USA, they were excellent to deal with and quick to reply. Hodgo

Good move DET, You could buid a weapon. Dont worry about the computer.....they dont look in the glovebox, get my hint and if the engine stops running when you disconect the original computer all is sweet! That is all they check, but I wouldn't hook up the traction control etc. Like I've said before if your not in the top 5 they don't really care, a Tasmanian MGB ran a supercharger this year...no one looked sideways at it! OK OK it was a MGB Who would looks sideways at it, LOL. Most events are CAMS now, so one set of rules. You can go 17% over in engine size, rim size is 2+2 inches, brakes are free. If you run it as S3, fibreglass panels and Perspex windows are allowed, and I think turbo's are free. I'm not sure about intercooling..this might be the hick-up in your plan. But in reality, a genuine 300 flywheel HP would be very competitive as you only have 8 inches if rear rubber, a flexable, punchy and strong engine is the key with complient suspension, ie soak's up the small bumps and does'nt throw you off line. Is the cage logbooked in your car? pull the ironing board off the back of it, pop in a real motor and your ready to rock'n'roll. PM me for pacenotes...simple. Hodgo

Howdy Guy's, I've been off line for a week, but a very good effort from Siddens in the Zed...my man tells me if you combined the classic and modern times Siddens would of been 8th OUTRIGHT and the Porker 7th...look down that list and see what is below him!!

Fast Craig...very fast. You better come down for a run matey..Alloy vs Steel...2 seats vs 4 Found some photo's of the great man

LOL heaps Gareth!, 22 years of tinkering. L20, downdrafted head (see a couple of pages back), 76 degree cam, Twin 45's, 11:1 comp, SWR extractors. Option 1 box, 4.1 or 4.8 R180, Bilsteins, adjustable front struts, modded arms, Hilux calipers and the best tyres and pads I can buy. 900kg, 150rwhp, rust, dents and plenty of scratch's!! It's won the 2ltr class three years in a row at the Tas Hillclimb Champ, Outright 1st in the 2010 championship and won the 2 ltr class in the local NW series 12 out of the last 14 years and Outright 3 times including last year, and is heaps of fun to drive...never ever won best presented car though, not even close!! LOL Once the Zed is up and running it will get a major birthday and we might put it in the entrance foyer of the ranch on display.... By the way are you happy with your Torsen??
-
No worries, It was great to see it in action...It's a lot louder outside than inside LOL. It might take some time before the ribbing subsides after getting hosed in my own car!! Bit 'o lock below!!

Hey Guy's..Bit off topic, but Team 'Pulled apart Z in the Shed', Scando and Myself 'Slummed' it in the blue boxey four door at our Kart track lap sprint yesterday, as well as Mighty Mick in the V8 weapon. Scando was leading the event OUTRIGHT until the last run when he was pipped by a Kobota...sorry Wrx and I was third until pipped by a turbo Sprinter again on the last run...bugger!! Mick cleaned up Class E and had to leave early to drive a Rolls Royce at a wedding which is a shame as his Zed sounded Fat!! The poor old Rat copped a flogging, with the new soft Dunlops and 4.8 diff making a big difference to last years times. It was a very impressive effort from Shane who had never driven the car before his first run and hadn't driven a race car for a couple of seasons...
-
Bit of a tease....nice photo's but tells you nothing about the car at all. Mind you he's still racing it and is holding the cards pretty tight! It does help explaine 260DET's love of German engineering! He does a fantastic job with it though and his results are a real credit to him.

Another, not as good as above...but you get the idea!! I'm sorry is this a Zed car Site, LOL
