  1. Now ya talk'n....
  2. Magic Photo's guy's, Your car looks great in action Ledge.
  3. Mate get one now!! They are under valued compared to other similar vechicles of the era...way, way under valued. And I've said it before and I'll say it again they are far, far from rare. There are six competing in Targa Tas this week alone!! and there all genuine, you cant copy a Zed like you can a XYGT or XU-1. Whats HTH Lurchie? Is it code for get and MG instead? LOL
  4. LOL yeah it sure goes alright for a Daewoo!! If your interested.... I could do you a real good deal on Moby..only done a few 1000kms in France... The 956's are tiny, they always look huge in photos'. Fastest thing there was a Hybusa (DLRA Lake Gairdner) at 280km/h, fastest cars were the Brock 24hour Monaro and a blown EFGT (On Sat). The Porsches were only taken to just over 200..Best sounding was Moffets Mustang from the Bowden collection. Theres a Courier company down here that better cough up some Sponsership so we can see Scando having a run next year?? Great event.
  5. Hey, I had a top day at the Longford revival yesterday, there was a fantastic display of cars and some very quick run's down the flying mile. I didnt get to meet Walter the Legend as he was out pace noting but we all got dressed up in the 60's gear, drunk plenty of wine and had a ball, Dont buy a used Porsche or Ferrari off this dodgy bloke.....
  6. Great stuff! It's great to have you on here Gordon. So where did it all start? with the Fairlady 1500/1600's or was there a team set up to crew for the Jap team in the early Bluebird at Bathurst and did the factory have anything to do with the Jack Murrey Skyline entry at Bathurst and the R380's at Surfers Paradise? How's the Sports 2000? do you still own the beast? Cheers, Hodgo
  7. Oh yeah Jason, I think I could raise some cash from the Tassie Fury Fan club if you needed it.....
  8. Yes Mr Dazda a RS200 not 2000, sorry Jason it wasn't Sherards it was a new one from south Oz (He also has a very quick Perana...). There are two in Tassie the other one is a well know Bus driver from Ulverstone, which is an ex-Tarmac spec car imported from a collector in NZ last year, he ran it at one bar boost and got 3rd at the hillclimb behind an open wheeler and Jamie Vandenburg in his Evo9, he also has the ex Seton/Fury Sierra in the collection. Sherard let Wayne Park drive his in Rally Tas a few years ago and he cut a track...till it broke. The RS1800 was John Haddens IYK000 and Stu Reid was running his trick new RS1800 as well, but after the weekend just gone you would sell them all and buy a HQ Monaro! I've just checked the date and it clashes with the first round of the Tas Rally Series and I told a mate i would Nav in his Commodore...bugger! You might reconise the shop in the background of the bottom photo if you went on the Tassie tour last year!
  9. OK I'm keen, what's the go with ticket, buy them on the day or can you get them earlier? and is accomodation hard to find? My old mate Pirate Pete has entered his sportscar, the Turnham GM8 which is powered by a Holden 6 turbo and hopefully Peter Hall will be running, I saw him at Mallala a few years ago clean up in Sc by half a lap. Gotta love Rally Tas weekend, I went down to the mail box yesterday and Greg Carr's old works BDA Escort and a RS200 came burbling past. All that was missing was a FJ24 120Y...... Mind you RS200's are a bit commen, we had a different one to above run at our Highcleare hillclimb in December.
  10. They are having 'Timed demo run's' along the flying mile and the entry is $700!! might not see to many club level (or State) cars having a run. But should be a top event, they planned it well, after Phillip Is Historics and the Melb GP and It will be well worth a trip over to see, Mrs cant wait as we are all getting dressed up in the period gear, should be a hoot!!
  11. Another question Pete, what the sump? Finned alloy?
  12. LOL, Sorry rounded up
  13. Mighty Mick lived up to his name yesterday at the Highclere hillclimb claiming an excellent 4th outright and 2nd in class. It was a tricky day as the road had just been re-sealed and was more like driving on gravel than bitumen! Not ideal for 6 litres and a nice paint job! I popped my video camera on board for one run and will try and get it up on you-tube and also track down some photo's. Mrs. Bluerat was spectating for a couple of runs and said 'Why dont you put one of those motors in yours!'.... Hodgo
  14. Bugger.....I though this might of been about his engine choice.
  15. What the......
  16. RX-7's as well. There was a very complicated formula they had to comply with, maybe the sum's didn't add up. It's a shame, a Group C 2+2 could of looked pretty tough with flairs, big wheels etc but making competitive power through the Std inlet manifold would of been a draw back. Come on 260DET don't disapoint me........
  17. That bugger's the theroy of using a 2+2 as a sports sedan, in Nd (if there is ever such a class is started) or if you find the old group C log book in Historic Group C. Not that I was ever going to do it, but i liked the idea that you could! Gorden is one bloke who needs to write a book, serious, what a ripper of a read it would be. Like everyone else I got the John Wright 40 year book the other day, and what a huge disapointment. There was nothing about when they first came to Aust, how many were sent? What date? the three Aust rally championships they won, the works rally cars that came over....Like I said Dobies book could be a ripper!! Although I do like the idea that it might just be my car on page 17 (Or Lurches). Hodgo
  18. Your on the money Mr.Camouflage.
  19. LOL I better have a serious chat with my accountant..Is he clever enough to claim throttle bodies, forged slugs and race pads for the Hiace? Or about the same time a Z32 gearbox arrives at a well known Hounville workshop... I have been busy, do you like my new LD Crank letter box?
  20. G'day Guy's, I'm back on air.....we broke the internet USB jigger thingy...anyway top read. Mines very simple, Down here in Tas Datsun 1600's are/were nicknamed Rat's and mine is blue. Back in the early '90's you weren't cool unless you had a fluro green or orange 'go the rat' sticker on the back window of your 1600. So if I ever get the Zed back on the track I better change my name to RedZed...or if a 1600 is a rat a Zed must be a Capybara so make it Redcapybura. Yep I just had a very strong coffee. So Scando when will we see a huge Scandinavian flick into the hairpin at Symmons?
  21. Great to see Lurch, grass Khana's are are huge amount of fun!! Who's is the 124S coupe? I have some action photo's of it in Rally Tas or Targa, or both from years gone by...
  22. That old chestnut again 260DET, I dont know the full story, but did you have a look at the results!! there's an RX-3, Rx-7 and a Jenson Healy above them in outright!! so no tyre, brake or power advantage there (well OK the Healy is 7 litres but it has to put it through a 225 tyre and was built in 1963!), I'm 90% sure the winning Capri can only use 8 inch rims as well. Mate the top 5 cars cost well over a $100,000 each to build, a competive classic spec Porker is around $150-200 grand to build , Lenny's Mustang was well over $300,000!! and let's face it, the 'German Monsters' were better Homologated by smarter engineers and have been competitive in rallying from the year dot, where abouts the Zed's were only competitve once a year at the Safari, were toughness not speed won the event. It is well documented that Datsun never did any real devolpment on the Zed as a rally car where abouts the 'Euro' car companies were flat out developing their cars, thus giving the 'Classic' rally car builder a lot more options as far as car spec to work with when building one today. Anyway Siddens proved at Targa Tas this year just how fast a well driven, well built Zed goes.... ZZZZZZZZZ....yep I bite again, just like a well hooked fish, LOL
  23. Good luck this weekend fella's, it will be real interesting between Siddens and Dan's Dad!! Jason's times in the 120Y will be interesting as well. Betcha Jason's car gets more lookers than the White's Lambo does....
  24. A photo of two Tasmanian 240Zed owners working hard in the shed, getting there Zed's ready for the 2011 race season..... and one of them the next weekend also working hard in the shed....Dedication!!
