Cheers Guy's. Alrighty, so first up, this puppy is not hydaulic lifter type and if I use the entire top of the N47, towers and all (I know Lurch, I know...) will it work? I'll be using a re-ground 76 degree cam...so could the 2mm difference in the valves be cancelled out with some lash pad tuning??? Mr Klink I would be happy to swap the head for a 1981 Maico 490 Mega2 from your homeland...as I have an urgent need for 1. LOL. Alright how about a P90a?

G'day guy's, just a quick question. The ported head that came with my car is a P90a, but the entire valve train has gone missing some time before I purchased it, I have a N47 head complete from a Patrol and was wondering if the valves etc are the same and would be a bolt on swap. The reason I'm asking is that I've heard that the P90a etc have longer/shorter valves than other L6 heads, and I have no P90a valves to compare them too.... Cheers Hodgo

Scando just brought a 'Turbo' spec L series cam from Powerplay (ex-Datrally)in Melbourne, and is very happy with it and the service he received. (03) 9584 7373. They will also be able to help with heavy duty valve springs. Scando might be worth a PM he's got his L28 turbo going very well. Mind you it was going well with a std L28T cam. Hope this helps.

I think he's having problems with the front end Lurch, are the Robco adjusters for the rear? Gyra, like Gareth said get a wheel alignment, If the caster is different side to side you may have bent something like a strut or bottom arm?

I dragged Zack back up to the ranch on Sat, and we got a heap done. There only the back panel under the rear bumper to do, as far a major body work goes. It's by far the worst part of the car, man it's had some hit's!! well at least they were having a go and went in backwards!

Great read Simon, keep it coming! Your right about the chokes, they can be tricky to get to the right shape, a mate spent ages working out how to do mine and making up a tool for the lathe. I thought your old 535is might of been the car my wife has now, It came from Melbourne, but we dont have a sun roof. Was it a manual?

Phill H in the BMW 325 (should be 329!) holds it at the moment. I've already been feeding Phil a lot of BS, told him I has going to use a 68 degree cam, Quadrajet carb, 240K box and atf in the shock's, he's real worried!!

Funny you say the above, My father in-law had a heap, and after scanning them and getting a few out there he sold the right's to them to a photo library. Howdy Cheif, Merv Grey Automotive in Launceston just supplied flat tops for my L20, and they cut valve reccess into them, they are slow but very good, worth a try. Hodgo.

Thank's Pete, What a ripper!! that's magic. We had our CC dinner Sat night and everyone was talking about the clip on u-tube, now i know why. My understanding of the Longford revival, is Historic racing at Symmons Plains, only 10 minutes up the road, display's and get togethers in the town itself. There was talk of a sprint type event on the 'flying mile' part of the track. Dont hold your breath on it, it's at least the 3rd time in the last few years the revival has been attempted and they keep stuffing it up, ie no paperwork in etc etc. The two bridges are no more and the bit that goes off the start line, which is the main hwy now, under the viaduct is also gone, most of the rest is still there. You can still see the water tower, just near the start line and if your ever in Longford, the Pub has an excellent display of photo's and stories. I've collected and scanned 100's of photo's of the event over the years and if you ever get a chance, Barry Oliver is a real guru on the subject. Longford holds a fantastic street stage in Targa every year as well.

Howdy, We had the Highcleare hillclimb yesterday up here in the NW of the State and Mick had his first run in the mighty LS-1 powered 240Z after a major rebuild. The cars is a real credit to him and he picked up the best presented car trophy for the event. It was great to see him out of the rotary and back in a real car, the Zed sure looks good on the track.

I was fiddling around with Subi diff's for my 1600, and found the below diagram on Ozdat a while ago, never tried it, might be worth a try if you know a top machinist and welder? I'm sorry I dont know the original author of the diagram, so I cant give credit where due. As for the rallycar, it's a bit of a bad example, he's very hard on thing's and they get a pounding!! I know in the old car, a MY99, the drive shafts got rebuilt every 2 events, mind you the front diff and dog box went back to Mr.Frank at Modena for a full rebuild after every 4 events or 500km! told you he was hard on it. He changed to the fancy $1500 per driveshafts and they lasted a lot longer between rebuilds. I'm not joking when I say it cost's more than $50 a competitive km with these puppies!! After all that, I'd try the Subi halfshafts, if it's a R180 then most likely it's STI which are stronger. Hope this helps a little. I have a R160 subi LSD for sale if anyone wants one for there pedal car or Subaru??

Small world!! He tuned the Webers on my 1600 last week and basically brought my Zed through him!! He was over at the Alpine last weekend servicing for Jesse and Sam in there Zed.
