Sucks to be doing this, but I’ve moved to Sydney for the foreseeable future. Lack of onstreet parking and only 1 carpark makes things difficult considering partner needs car for her work. Also just started some postgrad study, so my spare time balance is pretty negative and will be for a long time. This is kinda half an EOI, half a for-sale ad. Car is currently stored in Goolwa, 90 minutes south of Adelaide. Model: Manual 1977 2-seater 260z. Original motor rebuilt by Les Collins to L28 spec. I’ve had in mind that this would be a real period car, with all modifications available at the time (though you would have needed some friends in Japan). Matching numbers (although the chassis plate on a ’77 doesn’t include the engine number, I’ve been told by a few people that the engine # is in the right range for the build date). Original drip tray, passenger foot-rest, plastic radiator shroud all there. Replica works rally shift knob, JDM calendar clock (correct font), and lightly worked L28 will make this a really fun street car. To get this registered and running, fuel lines need connecting and wiring needs to be done, carbs need jetting, needs new brake lines, windscreens, new carpets, rubbers and either cut & polish the paint or have it re-sprayed (paint is pretty poor — my plan was to have the paint redone). Body: Genuinely good, rust free body. Has been garaged since the early 90’s, in ACT and Vic before SA. Pictures of all rust documented extensively in flickr. Has been stripped back to bare metal, rust cut and new metal welded in. Painted with acrylic, hasn’t yet had a cut & polish. Paint coverage is poor. Alas I was a young, dumb and poor Uni student at the time. Some small dings and waves that annoy me, and the paint job wasn’t professional. One area on left fender near the rocker needs to be re-done (panelwork, not rust). I would certainly suggest spending the coin having the exterior stripped back again and re-painted. Interior: All plastics there (One of the rear 1/4 pieces has a snap). Lovely brown interior, true 70's inspiration... Dash has no cracks, but a few nicks in it. Seats are great except one 2cm cut on the rear of one. Carpet is all there, but use it as a template for cutting new carpet. Interior is in decent condition. Doorcards unfortunately have some scuffs and tears on the outer edge. Includes a replica Works Rally knob and a quartz calendar clock (with correct font for the late 260z gauges). Mechanical: I don't think there's a bolt or fitting on this car that hasn't been stripped and zinc-plated to the original cadmium finish. Even things like headlight fittings have been dipped and plated. Have two sorted boxes of bolts to go with it too. All suspension arms, etc have been repainted. Bushings have been replaced with black poly (except ones which need pressing out. Those bushings will come with the car). * Original L26 rebuilt by Les Collins, bored out to L28 spec * E88 head, * Sanyo manifold port-matched to triple solex carbs. * 3x 40mm Mikuni Solex * Carbs rebuilt with brand new kits from Mikuni Japan. * Greddy style headers. * Exedy HD clutch. * Carter p4070 electric fuel pump. * 14" Techno Racing TRV wheels. Managed to track down 6 center-caps, so there's 2 spares. I think all else is stock. Pictures: Over 100 pics here. Roughly chronological order. Price: SOLD

Wtb: 240Z/260Z 2 Seater - Swap With Ta22 Celica Cash Your Way
thriller replied to 260z blues's topic in Wanted
Do you want something complete & running, or 'almost there'? Will be hard pressed to find something with rego for that budget. I'm letting go of my 260z as we're moving to Sydney for the foreseeable future and no way can afford two car spaces. Car is in SA. PM if you'd be interested, but will need to be picked up. -
Deposit taken. Happy to report she's staying in SA -- not another one sent over to Vic! Donation sent your way Gav.

Model: Manual 1974 260z, RS30-000811. Full service history & paperwork. One lady owner for 35 years. Location: Adelaide Item Condition: Better than most “unrestored” I’ve seen. Perfect base for restoration. That was my plan, but we've only got one car-space and I need to bring my 77z home for the finishing touches. Price: Looking for 25k. That should make it the cheapest registered 2-seater around by close to 5 figures. Body: As pictured. Has undergone two resprays, from Metallic Gold to Metallic Blue in the 80’s, and then from the blue to it’s current …. rather pinkish… colour probably 15 ish years ago. Took a magnet over the whole car when I bought it and know there’s some filler in the dog legs. Welcome to bring a magnet or depth meter and poke around the whole car. The interior is a little rough, the driver’s seat needs a reskin. Mechanical: Have driven it around for about 2 years without any issues. Unfortunately doesn’t have the original matching number engine, as it blew a head gasket and was cheaper for the previous owner to just buy a replacement motor. * Equipped with round-top SU carbs * The fuel gauge doesn’t work below 1/4 tank * Clock doesn’t work * Surprisingly, no other electrical gremlins. Registration: Currently not, but will sell with 3 months of SA Rego. Pictures: I’ve taken some very honest photos of the worst parts of the car, along with the normal 'pretty' pictures. Album here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/57235973@N05/sets/72157666750915033/with/27194118370/ Extra Info: The car was purchased in 1974 from Bill Cooke motors in Townsville, to a gent based there with the army I believe. After a few years, the car made its way down to SA, where it was purchased by the previous owner in 1979. She has religiously kept receipts for all work done to the car, and it was her daily driver until probably 2010. She only sold as the lack of power steering was getting a bit too difficult for her. She was heavily into animal activism, so covered the car in stickers and painted it hot pink. Shame about the colour… Like all undocumented resprays, I can’t guarantee what’s under there. I know it’s probably close to a 15 year old paint job, and it seems to be holding up well enough. * Will include original hubcaps (no wheels). * Full service history and papers. Everything is in there. * Believe all original tools are included. * Original gear knob! * Repco air conditioning! Only blows air though… Might even work with a regas. Have a good look through the photos on Flickr, feel free to give me a call on 0411 251 929 outside of work hours, or e-mail me on hello(at)ryankennedy.io Have been debating with myself whether or not to let it go for a few weeks now. Will be really sad to see it go. Please don't buy it : Keen for the car to go to someone who wants to do an original or period style restoration.

Did every single car from '77 come in that color? Of the dozen odd that I've seen, I don't think any of them have not been that weird champagne. We only got 95 odd of them here. -

Well, didn't take long for that to go. That's happening more & more lately! A couple more will likely turn up for $15k in the next 6 months odd. Few suggestions: * Spend more now & you'll save yourself twice that later. Don't bother with anything that has "just a bit" of rust in "the usual" places. * You better watch this space/facebook/gumtree/ebay like a friggin hawk. There'll be hundreds of people doing the same. FWIW, my 2nd 260z had one lady owner for the last 40 years. Saw it on Gumtree while on lunch break, made the call as soon as I saw it, went to test drive the next day & paid her for it the day after. Funny I wasn't really looking for one ( and she'd painted it a pretty ... striking .. colour) but I knew it'd be gone pretty quick, so a no brainer. She told us there were about half a dozen people who were happy to jump on a plane right away to come & get it, but she seemed to think my girlfriend & I would give it a loving home. -

Bout a year? I picked up a 2-seater 260 for $12k probably a year and a bit ago. Don't think I'll ever be able to get another one for anywhere near that again. Note the low AUD makes imports out of Australia quite attractive for people in Japan/UK/Etc. I think this has definitely played a part in it. -

That car looks like a total gem. Favourite color combo, the white with red exterior. Condition looks great too. Will repeat to myself for a little while... " I don't need 3 I don't need 3 I don't need 3 " -

Out of interest - what's the colour code on this one? It's that funny wine-red metallic right? Quite like it for a 260.
-
No sweat, you missed out though! Nice day out for it.

Cool guys. Sunday 9th august, leave from the Tower Hotel on Magill Rd at 2pm. Sounds more or less alright? Route roughly like the attached file.

So funnily enough I now have a Z that works, but it barely gets driven. That's probably the same for a few of us. What about a drive out to Lobey Bierhaus for a late lunch in 3 or 4 weeks? I think going somewhere else (not a person's place) puts a lot less pressure on whoever is hosting. Later is better since the lovely lycra clad lads are normally all back home by midday, otherwise we'll be doing 15km/h for half the trip. Low key, would just be good to have a bit of a catch up, beer & burger.
