New door control rollers arrived this week. Assembled the hinges today. Returned to the bumpe bars and started to repair some of the corroded (yes rust) sections. More time in the shed tomorrow.

A great weekend lots achieved over both days. The inside of the car is now in undercoat. A light coat of acid 8 on all the interior surfaces. Last thing today I started to make up the dolly ready to take the shell when it comes off the rotisserie, I am hoping to get past that mile stone in the next couple of weeks.

Happy days.

Well it's Kalahari Tan!

Heated the shed when I went for a mtb ride this morning, then applied two coats of primer and some top coat on the engine bay. A couple if bits need further attention before it's perfect but overall it looks good.

Nice colour Jeff.

I think so. It was the colour of the 1970s that for sure.

Looks Excellent! For a moment I thought you were going to POR15 the engine bay.

Already had done that after stripping it and making numerous rust repairs.

Looks good, did you go 2 pack or acrylic?

I have gone with acrylic. It's simpler to use and as the car will be garage and won't be left outside for extended periods it should last fine. It also will give me plenty of opertunity to polish the car over time. I don't want to finish the project and have nothing to do other than drive her.

Thanks boys

A few things ticked off today.

Yesterday was spent in the garden getting the spring tidy up underway and on a MTB ride exploring the northern ACT border. Today I spent a bit of time re doing (my OCD is flaring up) a couple of small Jobs for a second time that I was not totally happy with. Then I stripped the paint and kilograms of bog off the bonnet. It looked like a snow storm in the front yard, what a mess. What I discover under the bog was not surprising but still disappointing. None of it will be hard to fix but why the bash and bog method was used here as it has been with a few other repairs on this car is annoying at best and just lazy at worst. The hole cut by a previous owner to accomodate a vent will be filled in, don't you just love the hole, classic.

I am off to Cairns for the UCI MTB world championships so the Z will be sitting idle again for the next week. Up side is the weather forecast is for Cairns 28 28 28.......28.

Competing or watching?

You on Strava?

Commissaries Dave. So watching I suppose.

I'm a bit worn out and slow to be competitive although I can still go down hill relatively fast.

No not on Strave. It would just be embarrassing :-).

Haha....you must have been around for a while to be a commissarie!

Old down hill guys never slow down, I ride with a few and they still blow me away.

Enjoy Cairns.....rooting for the Aussies.....will be a welcome break after the winter we've had.

It was a good ride by Cam, I thought he might fade at the end but he rode very strong.

I was up there to watch the 96 world champs, was very cool watching guys like Tomac, Frischknect and Palmer's amazing run in the DH

Epic day at the UCI world mountain bike champs in Cairns. The event wrapped up today with the DH.

Some great rides with plenty of action. Disappointing for some of the Australia's but that's how it happens. I had a great few days, caught up with plenty of old friend. The mountain bike community holds a special place.

A bit of progress to report although its a bit of two steps forward and one back at times. I have been working on repairing the bonnet. As posted previously is had a big hole cut in it and quite a bit of rust, bad repairs and holes on the front lip. Its not finished yet but it is getting closer although it is definitely testing my skills but very enjoyable.
