  1. With identical twin boys on the way we are upgrading from a mazda3 to one of these shortly. The styling, interior finish and value for money are very hard to beat. For a medium sized car externally the interior space is big, I'm 6ft 3 and can fit in the front and rear very easily. The touring model with all the bells and whistles and leather can be had as an ex demo for high 30k.
  2. Whoa! How's the bottom hose on the dyno, it kept going flat several times, especially at 5.27 and pretty much every time it gets the beans. What's with the fan pointing at the carbs, it's not for cooling...
  3. Fantastic stuff David! This one be one very special Z?
  4. I'll pass, minister for finance hasn't given approval.
  5. I'm very interested, just gotta check if the crack will be an issue.
  6. I'll PM Peters details through.
  7. What tools do you have? Torque wrenches, feeler gauges etc? Most head work will comprise of porting, chamber work, cam and valve train. On a stockish engine it'll give you a big upgrade initially, high hp is a different level. I'm no expert but have attempted a few engine rebuilds and a gearbox rebuild due to a low budget. With the help of some knowledgeable people, my brother and the forum it has saved me a heap. I've learned a lot in the process. I'd say have a go yourself, some fellow Sydneysiders might be able to help and if it all ends up being too hard send it off to be finished. Have another chat to James and explain your choices, if you spend the money with him he may go the extra mile with you and help you out with other tips/info. Peter Mac did this with me, he went way above and beyond what I expected. I'd suggest talking to him as well!
  8. Do you know anyone who has rebuilt an engine before? I've done both of mine in a garage. Get a factory Datsun manual there's a lot more detail in them. I'd say decide on your engine build specs. Tear down the engine, send the head off to MIA for porting/cam (get him to set it ready for assembly) and when completed rebuild it yourself. Money spent on the head is the best bang for buck. EDIT: Sounds like stock bottom end will be fine for what you need. Scorcher dizzy is a great upgrade. Spend the rest on the head, it'll transform the car.
  9. Nice work Billy! A HP gain and great OEM looks is the best of both worlds. Love it
  10. Would the better hp result from a slightly lower intake temp with the box on? Cooler air would be denser and account for the leaner afr. What were the final AFR's?
  11. Ok. Aside from the engineering question this looks like a great buy. Fit and finish of mechanicals look oh so nice
  12. Nice progress Scotty. Do you know what the cause was with the gearbox popping out? The civic fan blower is a good upgrade, I've got one in my car. Apparently there's a Kia Sportage blower that's better again, it fits with a little trimming of the housing.
  13. It says the passenger floor has been cut out but the pics show it in place and appearing good..... rust? I has plenty of high dollar parts though!
  14. Kameari call them a ' Subaru R180 Strengthening side flange' from what I can see 35,000yen for a pair. Page 72 of their catalogue. http://www.kameariengineworks.co.jp/
  15. Does this differ for the 71C boxes?
  16. I thought you were after output shafts to suit the subaru R180? Wolf Creek items are shit, Kameari do them and you know they'll be good.
  17. Is the RB crank available by itself and what's the go with the flywheel or spacer setup? I assumed it was an LCR only build and no parts available for the DIYer? Unfortunately for me that's not an option, one day I hope so!
  18. Wow, it's going to be an awesome ride Jeff! Is it a 76degree cam or custom LCR? What are the plans for the driveline combo? I filled my L28 to the bottom of the water pump, it's had no impact on the cooling temps at all.
  19. Mossy with a 24.8582" tyre dia (225/50/16), 3.9 diff and 0.745 fifth you'd be doing 2,450RPM at 100kph. I switched out the 0.745 for the 0.833 fifth. For me running the 4.11 rear and the 71b 0.864 fifth I was doing 104.06kph at 3100RPM. Now with the 4.375 the RB20DET 71C with new 0.833 fifth I'm doing 103.96kph at 3100rpm. I normally sit on 3100 and use the tach as I know my speedo is out of wack. I think it's fine on the highway, as long as I'm not going to do an 8hr trip at 110kph.
  20. Nice one mate, looks so clean
  21. Sorry locklock, I thought you were going for the Subaru diff? You'll need the billet output shafts for those diffs. I read dat2kman's post as being for standard output shafts. I haven't bought them yet, I only asked for a price. If you need them they're all yours
  22. Hi Neuby, Theres a Hybridz thread on webers with some fairly detailed jetting setups and a lot of discussion about the stumble you describe. You've probably already found it though http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/28318-weber-jetsall-who-live-for-their-triples-please-read-this/
