    If it's a cold start issue only it won't be heat soak. Check the choke operation, the jet nozzles should be all the way down. To test pull the choke on in the car, then in the engine bay reach under the carbs and see if you can pull the jet nozzle on each carb down any further. If you can they are sticking, you aren't getting full choke and cold starts will be hard. Try lubricating them when they are fully down, it worked for me many years ago.

    I had this too Gav. It's just like billy says, you'll find the plastic connector has melted internally onto the spade connection which increases the resistance and current draw. It just keeps getting worse over time. I started checking the loom after seeing big fluctuations on the volt gauge while driving.

    Some really interesting info there Gav. That car is a time capsule! I didn't realize the factory made approx 2000 of them. The tow hook is very interesting too, looks to attach in the front corner of the radiator support. I wouldn't of thought that would be strong enough?

    Guys, If you do get anymore produced at a later date I would be interested in multiple sets. I'm sure there's plenty of other guys who would want them. It seems to be a problem across most zeds.

    Epic job guys, it lives again! So many great builds on here at the moment! George or Paul, what bits were salvageable of #19's shell, was it the floors and front cut? What sort of man hours would you have in body repairs before paint? It could give people a rough idea of costs if another early chassis car comes up in the future. Also, after grafting the donor body shell onto #19 is there a jig or template to make both the old/new body line up to one another correctly?

    Alan, was it an L24 taken out to 3L with triple 50dcoe's and a non g-nose front end? Beautiful looking car too, I bet it goes like the wind! Would this be the original that this replica was based off? I do prefer the livery and styling over the #23 type B car.

    Yowsers, would've been a brown pants moment Tom! Lol. Good to hear no damage was done. I've seen people put a large hose clamp on the filter and lock wire it back to the engine mount. The K&N oil filters have provision for lock wiring built on the end of the filters. It's going to the top of my to do list!
