  1. Be mindful of how high you place the pump in relation to the tank, many pumps are good at pushing fluid but not good at sucking fluid. My Mallory 4070LP fuel pump installation manual suggests "the pump should be placed level or below the fuel tank pickup. I had a 3mm thick aluminium fuel pump bracket made up that looks similar to the standard bracket, I actually have 2 spare brackets if anyone is interested in them. I will upload a pic later if anyone is interested? BTW the Mallory pump I have used is very quiet and doesn't need an external regulator for carbs, as it has an internal reg set to approx 3-4 psi. Cheers Mick
  2. Hi, I'm interested in the heater control knobs. PM sent. Mick
  3. Awesome, thanks for the vid. Did you do the hill climb too? I was hoping to get up to this event but too many things were working against me, it will have to be next year. Mick
  4. That setup looks like a reasonable price to me. It's complete and ready to go. It was only about 6 months back we saw some Hitachis with linkages and original air box sell for $615 on eBay. What sort of computer do you have in the car currently? You might be able to sell your efi / turbo setup and buy these http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,14929.0.html Mmm triples!!!
  5. Gumtree link http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/abermain/engine-engine-parts-transmission/datsun-nissan-l24-worked-engine-with-twin-carbs-/1061722332 Geez sure looks a treat with the yellow block and boat anchors
  6. I've got a spare TWM manifold from Pierce, never been used if you're interested http://www.piercemanifolds.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=99003.829
  7. This time of year is all a bit too busy for me. Bub 3 due early-mid Jan House settlement 19th Jan Hopefully by April I'll come back for air. Enjoy Fellas. Mick
  8. Great choce Mate. I too dream of a Hako in the shed along side the 240 and the 1600. Look forward to seeing some pics once she is home. Out if interest, who did you get it through? And how long have you been looking? I hope this build thread is allowed to stay, no doubt it will be a cracker. Mick
  9. Thanks for the grille slat Alan. It's Much appreciated. Now to get into cleaning and painting it all. Think I might do the tail light panel at the same time. Anyone have any of the heater control knobs?? Mick
  10. Yeah weather is looking good, should be a good run. As PB mentioned I have his radios, I too will be bringing a passenger of the rougher variety. Pick you up just shy of 8 Pete. +1
  11. I don't have mikunis but it does sound interesting. The weber book I have talks about some mods to maintain float level when rallying (extreme conditions) I'll post them up if you like. Do you think it's occuring to all 3 carbs? Have you been able to confirm which cylinders are misfiring? Mick
  12. KDFL08 KDRL09 They are OK, I cut 1 full coil off the front ones because I wasn't happy with the ride height (it looked like a hummer) the spring rate seems pretty good for a street cruiser but prob not quite stiff enough if you were going to do alot of track work. I had my front springs tested, they were about 185lbs/inch when measured at ride height (progressive) As others have mentioned in another thread, you don't have much shock travel but I haven't heard my shocks (Tokico Illuminas) bottom out yet, I run the progressive bump stops from SWM which may make a difference, don't know Also, the springs even at original length are not quite captive in the standard struts. I have put hose clamps round top and bottom to prevent them popping out. (Not very likely but I'm just a belts and braces kind of guy) Cheers Mick
  13. Hey Pete, I could meet up with you Monday if that suits you. I'm sure they will come in handy. BTW, I'm only just coming good now after Bathurst. We had a BIG Satdy night! Mick
  14. Haha, they're the ones I worry about the most. Bu, I am a cynic.
  15. Yep I got a spare pair including chrome trim in good nick. Not sure what they are worth, drop me a pm with an offer and your number so I can send you a pic. Cheers Mick
  16. Yep I should be there in my Z. Mick
  17. Looks awesome Mick. Where are the headlight covers? I wasn't sure about them to start with but they have really grown on me Your car looks like it's missing its sunnies. Mick
  18. Wow both cars look very tidy. Nice I love the coupes too. I think they look a little RX2 in the c pillar/ rear quarter, in a 1600 kind of way. If that makes any sense. :-\
  19. Just saw todays episode of Car Torque, they were looking at the Peugeot 208Gti and made mention of Sebastian Loeb's Pikes Peak record hill climb. So I had to remind myself of what a cracking run it was. But, it still doesn't do it for me like Ari Vartanen's run, doing it Old Skool. Enjoy Mick
  20. Weekly driven on average. But it's not uncommon for her to get a month long siesta in the shed during an upgrade or during one of our month long rainy spells. I find a good time for a drive is in the evening when the Mrs turns on her reality TV (strangely, I find totally unrealistic) it gives me an hour to get through the natio and home. Also take the young bloke for a cruise on the weekend, He loves it. Totally agree with above, driving is only part of the fun. Mick

    L28e long motor

G'day, I have an L28e originally from an '82 280zx (N42 / N42) that I pulled out of my car about 5-6 months back and willing to sell. Minor weeping from the head gasket and rear main but motor ran well with no probs. I am in Sydney but happy to drop it off to a depot on a pallet for you. Drop me a PM if you're interested. Cheers Mick
  22. I'm definitely interested pending cost and if we have to drive Saabs? I'm happy to meet for lunch anywhere
  23. Hi Adam It's a real shame you have got to this point, I'm sure you have thought it through. But, I think it wise you come for a cruise with some of us in October to give you some thinking time behind the wheel. That's where all the best decisions are made. Also give us an opportunity to ogle the Horny Hornet before another top notch Z leaves NSW. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,14104.msg157556.html#msg157556 Cheers Mate Mick P.S. Does this song ring true, is it someone else wanting to move the Hornet on?
  24. I recently paid $800 for a 2.5" stainless mandrel system from extactors back with a 14" straight through glass pack muffler. I thought that was quite a good price. Mick
