  1. I will be there, not doing the regularity though. Will have extra pop rivets holding in my Perspex (maybe some vibration noise from that). Will have a new diff, but would also love to have a sequential - see how finances travel. I went under 2.40 in the sighting laps so to hold back would be a injustice. Thinking I should be able to get to about 2.25 - 2.26 Don't know why you are still bothering with that auto Richard - seems that you could have installed a sequential by now if your paying for all this tuner help.
  2. Long time since update on here. Car has been going fine, driver slowly getting better. What initially was a $10000 build has turned horribly worse. Painted the car, finally have a car I like the look of. Everyone always tells you to do things once, people probably should listen to these wise words. OK So I have struggled with handling for a long time, spent near $5K doing things twice, then finally spent another $3k and put some Red series MCA coliovers. Difference was amazing, spring rates dropped by almost 50% and handles heaps better. That was money well spent. Replaced my front brakes with a set of AP's, and 365mm rotor. Much more confidence in my brakes, Replaced my 200000km old LS1 with a L98 LS chev motor, rebuilt it prior to install, running a 250's cam and a bit over 11-1 compression, with Higgins cnc heads all still with my drysump. Removed my power steering pump, I now run a electric power steering pump from astra. Electric water pump also fitted at same time. So after blowing a pinion gear in qualifying at Bathurst Challenge event it was decided that I need to fix my diff rather than repair it. I also suffered with high speed vibrations. Being that I am surrounded by old school muscle people we have gone with a independent 9 inch. This is giving me nightmares. To find anyone willing to step outside of the square is a hard thing. Over the time of this car I have snapped 2 stub axles and one CV shaft, I have discovered that sending 600 hp to a Datsun diff is always gonna be difficult, no burnouts, no drag racing starts, just have to baby it.
  3. Nice how its just a quick mention of diff, there are a few people here that have changed rear ends. Everyone seems on a different route though. After breaking a pinion at Bathurst I also felt the urge to change. Only my route is via a independent 9 inch. Just cut a big hole through the centre of my car. I have four R200's in my shed - hopefully I will only ever need one 9 inch. And we wont talk about costs either !!
  4. Long time no show, also went to Bathurst but did the sprint. One hell of a track! Although in my backyard, I have never completed the whole circuit or used hot tyres there. Was in group A with some nasty cars, but also a hell of a lot of cars/ drivers that didn't know the track. After first session I managed a 2.36 but had issues on straights, above 200km/h. At these speeds the whole car began vibrating badly like I had a uni joint on the way out. Second session 2 laps in and went back to third and blew half of my pinion gear away in the diff. (was 3.9 LSD) Being home was only 25mins away I jumped in my car and drove home to pick up my old trusty CIG locked 3.7 diff. Upon returning to track my ates had already pulled my old diff out so re-installed and only cost myself one session. Next session, vibration still there, time 2.36. Vibration worrying me to try to go faster. Last session for the day, 2.34. Bad vibration still but pushed a little harder with no adverse results. Noticed after day had finished that my chin on my front spoiler was trying to part with spoiler. Maybe that was my vibration? Repaired that night. Friday morning - first session. Damn still vibrating. 2.34-2.35 Second session - removed guerney lip from top of my ducktail thinking this may have been making the wind wrong. Vibration not so intense but still there. 2.33 Last session - time to go! Finally figured that my vibration magically vanished over 250km/h. Recorded 259km/h on my timer. 230 on mountain straight. did two consecutive laps at 2.29, second lap actually slowed and moved aside for skaifey in that BMW. By this stage my gearbox was terrible to deal with, would only downshift to 3rd at low revs and even the down to 4th at end of mountain straight and conrod could be terrible. Ultimately I reckon with another 10 laps and a gearbox I would have been 2.26-27. Now I watch this video and think its real lazy and slow, but trust me, in that seat it is scary as all hell.

    Whale Tail

I search everywhere and find nothing. Peter thank you. Reckon I might have a crack at making that one work unless someone comes up with a direct fit. Thanks again

    Whale Tail

How has one, did you get it in Australia and to be real painful - how wide is it where it attaches to hatch. Think my custom beaver tail is to high and hurting me above 200. Whole car seems to start to lift. Have a big front spoiler so its not naturally getting under the front. Sent numerous emails to the states but no response. Want it for a 280zx - there lies the problem! Any help would be appreciated Phil
  7. I ended up with my cross weight spot on, front to rear at 50% but I was heavy 20 kg front and 20 kg rear on drivers side. Im 80kg. Wasn't happy to pre load perches any further. Tried to keep them within 10mm of each other. Oh and took me most of a day of mucking around.
  8. Ha beat you all, I have 50mm in front and rear. Studs replaced with 3.5 inch long ARP 1/2 inch studs. Spacer then uses another set of 3.5 inch studs to hold wheel. I run a 285 tyre and haven't broken any due to normal racing. Dump the clutch and you break shit. LS1 track car (or sports sedan as some say - but without the budget)
  9. My water allergy was full blown today. Had a run on the long track this afternoon though, man I got know idea on that first right sweeper. Too slow every time, but still safe. And that braking zone into the first corner felt terrible, after watching so many cars spin there I really didn't want to become one of those statistics. Hoping for dry weather.

  11. If I could cut and paste it I would. Show and shine at the track now.
  12. How do you think I feel owning a Tyrepower store and the one race they heavily sponsor is Tasmania. Real smart to sponsor something that doesn't get any coverage. Total idiots!
  13. Is there actually anyone going from here. Because it looks as though I am getting a hell of a lot of tracktime to myself by the lack of chatter. Lets hope the real warriors are on the track and not their keyboards. I personally have been prepping for this for ages. I have a shiny new sprayjob, it even looks like a racecar now. Going by the sup regs emailed on Sunday, the show and shine is now at Morgan Park .
  14. Booked. Accomodation also booked, car dropped to spray painters 2 days ago. Need to organise fresh rubber. Hopefully this epic journey will be better than the last one I tried to do 4 years ago.
  15. The hillclimb was cancelled as the track still hasn't been repaired after Bathurst (supposed to happen this week). The subbed in a Flying 5th late. 227km/h is actually the average speed through the timing beacons. If you look close, just before the peak there was some cones - then after the peak there was another set. And if you can decipher it, it was 6800-6900rpm in 5th. The supersprint runs are slow. I have a trophy from a run that I did which was 3 seconds faster from the old red girl. Only had 3 runs, first one I didn't even pull out of 4th as it was more about checking the car against the run. 2 and 3 on vid. The 1st run on vid I am pretty sure the local news crew was filming me at the start, so I had to show off a little. I didn't have a serious run, where I tried to take off easier, hold it flat through the kink, ease it out of the chase and murrays. I see at least 2.5 secs in them vids.
