Administrators gav240z Posted May 22, 2017 Author Administrators Posted May 22, 2017 The main value difference is usually RHD vs LHD. So I don't see why not? Not many cars sold into NZ (240z's) so I'm not entirely sure on specification differences but from what I've gathered not many. It's still an HS30. OdinZ 1 Quote

gilltech Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 Originally lemon yellow yet inner doors and engine bay blue painted as per exterior. Perhaps an old make-over with colour change that has fallen on hard times. Re NZ 240Zs - AFAIK there were a few hundred 240Zs sold new. Quite a number of others followed in succeeding years being imported as used cars either as ex-JDM by dealer importers or as personal imports by returning expats. From what I've seen a few LHD cars arrived but most are RHD, some may have been converted but LHD rego is no problem there. I've heard the NZ-new cars described on this forum as 'world RHD spec'. Little different to Aus-new cars really, base spec but some differences due to the Australian Design Rules eg. am no expert on those but from what I've derived and observed both there and here the blue tint glass and factory clip-together 3-piece seat-belts seemed to have been disallowed in favour of clear glass and locally sourced belts. 240ZR Posted May 24, 2017 Posted May 24, 2017 (edited) Huge project near Wollongong https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/horsley/cars-vans-utes/1973-datsun-240z-coupe/1148756081 Huge is an understatement. I just went & had a look at it & it requires lots of metal work (100% rotisserie job). It has more than it's fair share of rust in the usual places so best to have a good look at it if anyone is interested. Edited May 24, 2017 by 240ZR OdinZ 1 Quote

Administrators gav240z Posted May 25, 2017 Author Administrators Posted May 25, 2017 Is that cheap considering rarity and condition is as stated??? Given how rare they are to find for sale these days, I'm not sure it's really that far from reality. Although this 1 in Japan sold for around $26k AUD recently (not sure if reserve was met?) https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b256041154 This project car was asking about $12k AUD. (price has gone silly after auction ended, not sure why?) http://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/j433722240 There is another in Adelaide here. https://www.shannons.com.au/club/enthusiasts/GettingOlder/garage/1967-prince-skyline-s54be-3-gtb/ https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/469621-prince-gtb-value/ and I know of at least 1 other in a Barn in NSW...not sure what the owner would sell it for though! If I didn't already have too many projects I'd get 1 myself. They haven't reached the crazy price point of the KPGC10 or KGC10's and the mania around those. They seem to have been overlooked... Quote
specialp3 Posted May 26, 2017 Posted May 26, 2017 Just made contact with the owner. I love these things and hopefully this will be my next resto project. Does anyone know the car or the owner ? Quote

Agno Posted May 26, 2017 Posted May 26, 2017 (edited) There are a group of Prince Skyline owners in Melbourne which we call the "Prince Mafia" because of how tightly they have a grip on almost anything classic Nissan and Datsun among the local clubs. They prefer to stay out of the limelight for the most part and I would guess there are over 10 Skyline GTA and GTBs in that group. Edited May 26, 2017 by Agno gav240z 1 Quote
specialp3 Posted May 26, 2017 Posted May 26, 2017 Hi Agno, Are you able to PM contact details for any of the members ? I always like to talk to a few owners about parts availabilty etc. When I restored my zed I would have loved the range of repro parts that are availabkle now. Quote
OdinZ Posted May 26, 2017 Posted May 26, 2017 has anyone on here gone and seen this 2+2, or know of the car? i know its been advertised for a while, seems like a good base, just curious why it has gone yet, other than the owner probably wanting more than people are willing to pay.https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/melbourne-cbd/cars-vans-utes/1975-datsun-260z-coupe/1141545436 Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted May 26, 2017 Author Administrators Posted May 26, 2017 I'd say unfinished project doesn't help. Funny thing is wouldn't take much to make it look more complete. Quote
OdinZ Posted May 26, 2017 Posted May 26, 2017 yeah agreed on both points. to me, if the rust and paint's been done, and done properly, that's most of the hard work that i couldn't do myself or with the help of friends. well i'm waiting to hear back from a potential seller of a complete, running 2+2, if not, ill get in touch with this guy i think Quote

I took a look at it with a friend. Was solid but the paint did have some runs in it. OdinZ 1 Quote

Administrators gav240z Posted May 26, 2017 Author Administrators Posted May 26, 2017 I thought this was a good price, not for you? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/DATSUN-260Z-2-2-/201925305953 It looked a bit tired but honest. Shaun05 1 Quote
