Original unmolested, except for the engine / transmission change and why is the cargo area a different colour ??

Different colour will suggest a lazy/cheap paint job at some point. In the engine bay shot you can see that the suspension wasn't removed as the three securing bolts/nut have been painted also. The "minor" rust in the usual spots would need to be checked out to see if $30k was a fair number.

You can see rust coming through in the A pillar ( almost in line with the top of the dash ) so I would suggest a proper inspection as their is bound to be more rust hiding under the paint .

Aaaand... the Turramurra 260Z is back on eBay:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1974-Datsun-260Z-Coupe-/172491647747?hash=item28294dab03:g:FZAAAOSwImRYWTk2

Is the third time around now? Comments from the previous auction have been copied. I think the bidding finished around $15k last time. There must be some reason the sales are falling through...

Maybe they are having trouble with the postage? :

Will post to Australia.

Well given how well things went when the seller listed it here. I'm guessing the car is not as it's presented perhaps?

Another 1976 260z but a 2 seater (Auto  :( )

1976 DATSUN 260Z 2 SEATER COUPE

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1976-DATSUN-260Z-2-SEATER-COUPE-/222385453321?hash=item33c734b909:g:ZaAAAOSw2xRYhFIH

Lovely story :

On April 27 1976, Mrs. Angela Marks walked into MOTOR FAST DATSUN in Commercial Rd., Prahran to pick up

her brand new 260z two seater automatic. She had the good taste to order it in the best colour combination

of Metallic Silver with a black interior.

According to the service books, to her credit, she had it dealer serviced for some years and drove it sparingly.

Whatever happened to Mrs. Marks? I have no idea. But amazingly, her precious matching numbers 260Z has survived the last

41 years looking substantially as it did on that first day (although it has had one repaint according to my panel beater).

As such, it displays the two characteristics most sought after by savvy collectors. It is, for the most part, CORRECT and ORIGINAL.

The car is significant for what it doesn't have:

*spoilers, lips or skirts

*plastic headlight covers

*side protection strips

*cracks in the dash top. It's refreshing to find a Zed without a dash mat covering something resembling the Grand Canyon.

Please don't confuse this with, or compare it to, the ungainly and dumpy 2+2. That variant was the most popular in the '70's

for reasons unknown to me, and significantly outsold the two seater.

But it is the two seater, virtually identical to the 240Z, which is now universally acknowledged as The One To Get and regarded

as the most beautiful coupe to have ever come out of Japan. And that lovely metallic silver duco highlights those smooth curves

and knife-edge creases to perfection. Having seen prices climb steadily over the last few years, I believe that these cars are still

seriously undervalued.

I am a Nissan Datsun Sports Owners Club member and have had 2 240Z's prior to this. But this is the best by a long shot. It never fails to

draw attention and compliments wherever I drive it.

For the nitpickers, yes, I have the impossible to get bumper overriders; the steering wheel could benefit from recovering if you're fussy;

the radio works...but not well.

Please note: I have tried to describe the car as comprehensively as possible but I am not a mechanic. You are welcome to come and inspect

the car at any time prior to the auction's conclusion. But NOT AFTER its conclusion. I am in Caulfield, just 10 minutes away from the now

defunct MOTOR FAST DATSUN. The car is being sold as is, with no guarantees or warranties express or implied, unregistered and with no RWC.

A 10% deposit via direct bank transfer is required within 48 hours of the auction's conclusion. The balance, via direct deposit, cash or bank cheque, is required within 5 days of the auction's conclusion.

Having seen cars that look like they've been rotting away for years bring 6 figure sums, this stunning example represents an incredibly rare

opportunity for the astute investor. Don't waste it. On April 27 1976, Mrs. Angela Marks walked into MOTOR FAST DATSUN in Commercial Rd., Prahran to pick up

Is there anyone in Victoria that can take a look at this car for me?

A Car previously viewed in NSW had been in an accident which was not made apparent even after questioning the buyer, so very weary of buying something without viewing it.

Does anyone has any other history about this car?

My old 240z, I sold it to the current owner roughly 5 years ago.

HS30 01168 - that's gotta be a really early 72.. It has the metal fan and fender mirrors still. I'd say it's a late 71.

*Edit Queensland transport department has it listed as a 71.

Asking $43k AUD.

This python script is already paying dividends...

Could people stop quoting the damn adds with the massive pictures?

Takes me 5 minutes to scroll down the page.

When I see that I usually try to remove the quoted images from the post and leave the text only.

No problem and I usually catch these and fix it, but I hadn't got around to it yet.
