Both the red and orange 260z look to be reasonably decent starting points and ok asking prices ?

Or is there still a big gap price wise between the 240z and 260z ?

Yes, to a lot of people 240s are more desirable tha 260s.

In regard to those cars, consider these points

- Orange car, has been modified to suit a Chev V8 so would most likely need chassis work to refit the L series engine.

- Red car is a 2+2, and these are a lot cheaper than the 2 seaters.

Cheers

Red car is a 2 seater according to the add and from what i can tell in the pictures.

However the paint does look like a poor home job

Yep, it is indeed, not sure which car I was thinking of - me bad. Edited by PB260Z

Neither car is going to last long in my opinion. Provided there is as little rust as shown in photos.

I want that bonnet on the red 260z :) Swapsies for fluted bonnet?

red car was first advertised @ 12k ono ....

Yes because it's a 2.4ltr (L24) HS30 (Fairlady 240Z-L), your car is an S30 (no H prefix) and is just a regular Fairlady Z-S (L20A) if I recall correctly.

Thanks for clearing that up Gavin. Yes mine is s30, that was an error, be but i never knew of the Fairlady 240z. But now I do!

Steering wheel on the red one a early 240z item ?

Yes, it's the solid spoke version for an early 70/71 240z.

The 2.4 ltr option came along in 1971 in Japan, the Fairlady 240Z and Fairlady 240ZG, most opted for the "Grande Nose" option. Hence a Fairlady 240Z-L is quite rare, especially in Blue.

The only other blue 1 that I know of is this car. I'm sure there are more out there in Japan.

The white 240Z has been re-listed on eBay - this time it has a 'buy it now' price of $33,000 which is just under the so-called winning bid last time it was listed.

Asking a modest $45k.

I wonder which dealer it is? Hmmm...

it's not listed by our old friend Phil on his Sunrise cars website yet.

I hate how CarSales doesn't tell you.

I'm pretty sure it is law in Australia that they have to list who the dealer is, they just don't make it easy to find. If you scroll to the bottom of the listing it is there in very small font.

Hi

By law a dealer has to include the following in every ad.

- make / model

- vin or rego

And

That is for sale by a dealer and the Dealers Licence No.

Dealership name is contentious especially when dealing with "blind" sites like Carsales

As an aside, it is also a requirement that the EXACT vehicle advertised must be available at the advertised price on the day the ad appears.

Well that is in NSW, not 100% sure about other states.

Cheers

From the latest ad... It seems like someone has been reading this forum:

Surely they have sold a car before. If I was dropping $30k on a car I would NOT be paying someone a deposit to take a few more damn photos! Lazy salesman!

Hi Guy's,

You read incorrectly, no where on our ad does it state to deposit funds if you want a few more photo's.

It is disappointing and frustrating when you have been contacted for extra photo's and supply them, and ask them to let you know once they have received them "courtesy". and no reply.

We have also had text and calls from individuals saying "give me your bank details and I will deposit the money without even looking at the car. Scammers, I agree that no one would spend that sort of money on a vehicle without viewing the vehicle first or having someone look over the vehicle on your behalf, i definitely wouldn't.

Example and Justification for the alteration to our ad in relation to time wasters

Hi Jen,

In my opinion, it's the game you have to play when flipping cars for profit. It may on the surface appear to be an easy way to make money (no capital gain, no tax etc..) but it warms the cockles of my heart to see you have to work a little for it.  O0
