Good luck with finding a good Z to start with. I must admit to being a bit frustrated at the moment. I just have too many competing interests with earning money being the biggest distraction. I really like the frame rails you made up. How did you make up the curved angle pieces for the door frame patch you made? Being able to make pieces like that would be handy. Quote

The frame rails were purchased from the Bad Dog parts in the US. I purchased quite a few parts from the US when the OZ $ was much stronger. At the time is was simpler and cheaper than getting them made locally. If it's these curved angles you are enquiringly about they are made using a shrinker. The stretcher is also super useful. CBR Jeff Posted June 25, 2016 Author Posted June 25, 2016 Yesterday afternoon and this afternoon were spent in the shed. I started sorting out some of the smaller issues. The rear exhaust mount was sorted yesterday as was a small section on the drivers side rear corner above the tail light. Today I built up the courage to tackle the rust at the end of the roof gutter on the drivers side. I'm very very happy with how it has turned out. It ended up being a very complicated little section to make. Luckily when the section of gutter was removed the metal under it was solid (I had been a bit worried about what I would find). I was not actually 100% happy until a test fit of the quarter window and realised that the bit that I was not completely happy with would be hidden under the window. I have managed to reproduce all the little details of this section, like the extended gutter right at the end and the rib that runs along just inside the edge of the gutter. I was honestly surprised just how complicated this section ended up being to make. If I get time I'll weld it in tomorrow. mspecr, Sirpent and gav240z 3 Quote

Think you will understand what I mean when I say that it's not the piece of metal that you made that brings the satisfaction, it the fact that you accomplished something that your head was arguing with you that you probably couldn't accomplish and then seeing it all come together. It's even better if he likes old Datsuns but when he is the owner of two Z cars (one an early girl, first 100) it's a true bonus.
