We had been in contact for a few years talking cars and finally got to share a drink. We also exchanged these. I have a feeling that was an old friend of Jim Irvine? Who is now the custodian of a lot of his spares? I think we spoke on the phone about the Topy's and Cap's a while ago, but got the impression he wasn't in a rush to offload them just yet. Good to see they went to a good home however! Quote

They're special cars so why not give them special attention. 1 hour ago, gav240z said: I have a feeling that was an old friend of Jim Irvine? Who is now the custodian of a lot of his spares? You're referring to Mark who purchased the lot of spares. I do recall him mentioning your name in our dealings. I'm referring to a Peter who facilitated pickup from Mark and then drove them down to Central Coast where we met. You're not wrong about him not being in a rush. I first started dealing with him in Dec 2016. gav240z 1 Quote

C.A.R. Posted October 21, 2025 Posted October 21, 2025 (edited) Bank in September 2024 we moved premises into a larger, more modern factory. Upon finding out about this, George sends me a message: "Now that you have all this space, where do I send #19 to you so you can finish it?" My jaw hit the floor... "If you are serious, I'm flattered and it would be an honor to assemble it. But why can't you do it?" "Life man..." Fortuitously, ZedFest'24 was in November, so George & I hatched a plan: George would put new tyres on the Topy's and pack #19 full of it's parts, and I would come up to Sydney with Rick's enclosed trailer to attend ZedFest and collect #19 On the Saturday before the ZedFest we carefully loaded #19 - which wasn't running at this point - into the trailer. And after enjoying ZedFest on the Sunday, I carefully drove back to Victoria to continue the reassembly... Edited October 21, 2025 by C.A.R. Quote
C.A.R. Posted October 21, 2025 Posted October 21, 2025 (edited) George had done a lot of the big jobs like fitting the suspension, drivetrain and dash. But once #19 was unloaded we took stock of all the parts: Some parts needed replacing, some needs refurbishing and some needed painting. The doors needed to be assembled with their glass and mechanisms, door cards installed, the tail light panels needed repairs and painting, the fiberglass centre console need repairing and painting, it needed carpets, a front bumper, bonnet hinge torsion rods straightened and installed, interior plastics installed... Basically we were going to be undertaking the last 50% of reassembly. So on with the photos in no particular order: The window tinder mechs were seized & in terrible condition, so we bought new T3 items. Checking 1/4 glass frame fitment: Plumbing the fuel tank: TBC... joe71_240z Posted October 21, 2025 Posted October 21, 2025 Good to see this one progressing again back to life. Also good to see the factory style blackout on the radiator support panel. Are you going to put it onto the seat mounting points? Curious to ask what you did with the gear shift knob. Did you restore the original or replace it? Did you come up with a fix for the "mandatory" cracked plastic/chrome lower trim ring? Quote

No, and in hindsight we should have painted them. 11 minutes ago, joe71_240z said: Curious to ask what you did with the gear shift knob. Did you restore the original or replace it?
