Riceburner Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Glad I'm not the only one who loves it. I'm not sure on the time but from looking at the previous vids it looks a little less twitchy, also maybe a diff ratio change as it's not on the limiter as much? I like the sequential shifter being rolled over so he's only moving his hand 50mm to grab gears. Quote
HS30-H Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Seems the gear ratios have been improved in that car since I last saw it. He's switched the old HKS 5-speed sequential for a Hewland IGTC 6-speed sequential. Quote
CroS13 Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Ok.......this is one of those "reality" car shows, find a bomb, do a full nut and bolt "professional" restoration in 1 week! and.... profit? Before you write the show off, they do a 280zx which turns into a 260z 2+2 which apparently is a "classic drifter in japan"....... its horrible, my eyes, the horror...but like a car wreck you cant turn away! Ahem..... these are your people Alan..... Rudolf......... Quote
Six_Shooter Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Where's the rest of the episode? They get as far as body work and then it just ends. Quote

Ahem..... these are your people Alan..... Rudolf......... I just skipped through it quickly I'll watch it all later tonight when I get home, but just looking at their rust repair work it's very amateurish looking. He's welding in square patches as oppose to circular, so it's going to pull the sheet metal in all directions, just making it harder overall. Although the welds looked ok. They are just patching up the rust they can see, but as we all know the cars rust from the inside out, so not sure what the purpose of repairing this car is and painting it when it will likely bubble through again in a couple of years, especially in the UK. Couple of muppets.... Quote
andyk_79 Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Couple of muppets.... Always brings a happy smile to my face when people use muppets - one of the greats I reckon! Quote
CroS13 Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Where's the rest of the episode? They get as far as body work and then it just ends. i don't know, i started watching it and posted it on the fly before realizing it was only half an episode! trying to find a full episode of it now..... but just looking at their rust repair work it's very amateurish looking. If you pay closer attention..... they weld the passenger side fender to the radiator support..... i wish i was joking.... there was rust in the inner nose panel where the bonnet bolts to, so they cut it out, then extended off the top lip of the fender, welded a massive square onto the bottom of it. Then welded a massive square onto the radiator support to patch rust there, then welded them both together...... LOL good luck taking off your fender! I have a few pommy mates at work and... "Bunch of Twats" comes to mind..... Rudolf. Quote
Six_Shooter Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 I just shook my head when I noticed the welded fender, or sugar scoop... Just more reason why I do my own work... Quote

Administrators gav240z Posted April 30, 2015 Administrators Posted April 30, 2015 Very cool engine and story, lovely stuff. I wish they made an LZ24 or LZ28 a twin cam on an L6 would have been awesome and probably homologated. Don't suppose Les has ever had any experience with an LY motor? Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted April 30, 2015 Administrators Posted April 30, 2015 Doing some reading up on the LZ20B it seems it finally evolved in a turbocharged 500HP beast. Fitted to the Super Silhouette DR30 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1SIkhiUMvw Quote

Not saying you're wrong but I got that information from here: http://www.nissan-global.com/EN/HERITAGE/short_story/en_p22-01.html Bringing the history of the LZ engine to a glorious culmination was the LZ20B turbo (2,082cc). This engine was used in the Super Silhouette races (Group 5) from 1979 to 1983 and put out more power than F1 engines at that time: from the start its maximum output was 500PS, and this rose to 570PS (final specifications). The achievements of the mighty Nissan turbo machines - the Skyline (Masahiro Hasemi), Silvia (K. Hoshino), and Bluebird (H. Yanagida, ’80/’82 champion) - thrilled the Nissan fans at the races. And this track record paved the way for the later Group C cars that starred in All Japan Sports Prototype Championship Series (JSPC) endurance event. Quote
