Administrators gav240z Posted July 31, 2015 Administrators Posted July 31, 2015 Gee it's clean 260z. Wonder what it cost. I don't think we should refer to it as a '260z' since it never was or will be a 260z or 240z. Phil doesn't comprehend that. It is a Fairlady Z (S31) L20 motor retrofitted with early S30z tail lamp lenses etc.. and I'm guessing it would have sold between 200,000 and 300,000 YEN - knowing Phil he probably got it a lot cheaper than that, it has got rust if you watch the other video he put up and that was the area he showed on camera, I'm sure there's more.... That Porsche in the background has been for sale forever and is part of the tax write off I was talking about earlier. He has no intention to actually sell the car, just dangle it out there. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/burwood/cars-vans-utes/1978-porsche-911-sc-blue-5-speed-manual-coupe/1020602132 Quote

Watch out for those zeroes, Gav. I think you meant 2,000,000 to 3,000,000 ( 2 to 3 million ) JPY? There are quite a few S31s that have been retro-looked in Japan nowadays. I've heard a few stories of people buying them without realising what the back end of an original S31 looked like, and being p*ssed off when the facts were brought to their attention. Some of these people are locked into the '240Z/260Z/280Z' mindset, which doesn't help. It's a shame because they can be a good buy, as - all things being equal - they should be much cheaper than a proper '69~'73 version. But, once again, I would advise anyone and everyone to steer clear of Edward Lee and his dodgy Japanese contacts. Even if you were to give them some benefit of the doubt over sharp practice, the fact remains that they still haven't got the faintest clue what they are talking about when it comes to the older Japanese cars. A combination of ignorance and arrogance is not what a prospective buyer needs to have guiding him... Quote

Six_Shooter Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 I have to laugh at anyone berating the 240 driver in that video, it's obvious you've never raced on a track and/or have never lost your brakes when going into a corner. The driver is not an idiot, nor was trying to make any super hero moves, he simply lost his brakes and was trying to go around people, unfortunately the Mustang was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Administrators gav240z Posted August 6, 2015 Administrators Posted August 6, 2015 Yeah it looked like he lost his brakes to me. Quote

Suck it up princess comes to mind here Quote
Six_Shooter Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 I agree with the guy shooting that video, that's unacceptable. Check things out, heck remove things if need be, just do it correctly and replace it. This is why I hate border crossings, just because this might happen is enough to keep me from crossing even though I've never had a problem. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted August 13, 2015 Administrators Posted August 13, 2015 I agree it's not good, but when it happens to Edward Lee's I have no sympathy. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,15615.0.html It's a long thread (he's a busy boy), so just read this. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,15615.msg172877.html#msg172877 Quote

Administrators gav240z Posted August 13, 2015 Administrators Posted August 13, 2015 I don't care who it happens to, it shouldn't happen at all. Way to ruin the schadenfreude for me . I agree it shouldn't happen, but I did find it amusing that his Youtube title was "Australian customs and quarantine help small business (go b" the character limit can only leave me to guess he was implying "Go Bankrupt" in which case I don't think Australian Customs will be responsible for that, good ol' Phil kicks plenty of own goals for himself. I love how he plays the victim here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-8o2GgFnBE "There's a few haters out there on the Internet, people are putting graffiti and saying things about me that's not true".. CroS13 Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 here is a video of a nice looking 240z from his channel... Now he does offer a service, i believe like most importers, you pay a $1000 broker fee to them, they give you their "log on details" to their jap auction account, and you can browse cars yourself, tell him yep i like this this and that, this is my budget, and they bid on them for you etc etc. I believe this Zed was purchased this way, not straight on his lot. I have heard stories of a Hako they had, selling it for 60k or so, it was full of rust, bought cheap, bogged and flogged once it was here for a massive profit. At least if you only use them as a import broker, you can choose the quality of car you get, choose what you want, and use them only as a middle man/translator. In saying that i would not use him on principal, as we all know why, id probably go through Iron Chef Imports. Does anyone know when that court case is due to be heard? Anyway, a nice "Devil Z" imported by our best friend Phil: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OykDOL-uyeY Rudi PS: I heard a rumor that someone had threatened the life of the guy who runs JOC. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted August 13, 2015 Administrators Posted August 13, 2015 Just edited your post.. Not sure we can blame Phil for everything dodgy in the used car business. But I will leave this here. http://www.fdrx7.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16236 JOC Dear Forum members, After some identity information leaks the former owner of JOC stepped aside for personal safety reasons. The new crew will be more careful in this regard while upholding the high standard of service for the JDM loving community. Later states. Not sure of the details. But he was happy to get rid of the business quickly and he likes everybody to know that his affiliation with JOC has ended... Quote
