Riceburner Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 Fugu Z on jay lenos garage. It does sound good, although not quite as good as the 3L above. Quote
Riceburner Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 Some more goodness... This build looks epic, so clean! I've seen a fair bit of this type of ignition system, looks to be a cam angle sensor instead of a dizzy? Interested to see how they do it and what's used to control the ignition timing. A couple of nice track spec Z's here too. The white Z looks fantastic and that chin spoiler suits the lines of the Z so well. The L-series sounds so much better than all the modern cars. Sh$te music warning! Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted March 19, 2016 Administrators Posted March 19, 2016 Just a tip guys, to get the Youtube videos to embed simply copy / paste the Youtube URL. Don't add it as a link, there is no need. The parser will automatically read the Youtube URL in the text and convert to an embedded video type. Edit: Love the valve cover in video #2. "TSUMORI ENGINIARING" Oh dear... Quote
240z71 Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 It does sound good, although not quite as good as the 3L above. I agree the sound is good but lacks a bit of something when compared to that 3.0l and im finding it hard to see an advantage of that engine with that rather low power output. For the same cost (dont know the cost but i dont think it would have been cheap not that bloke would be that worried about cost) he could of had a well built l series with more power and still had a bit of the original / vintage L series feel to it. Administrators gav240z Posted March 22, 2016 Administrators Posted March 22, 2016 On my flight to SFO yesterday I saw Paul Newman's "Winning". Lots of footage of Datsun's racing around late 70's early 80's. I enjoyed watching it and made me appreciate the 280zx 2 seaters a little more. CBR Jeff and Hokin 2 Quote
Hokin Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Definitely an inspiring watch Gav. Enjoyed it thoroughly. Quote
CBR Jeff Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 (edited) Latest from rocky auto. One for the G nose fans although I cannot help thinking it's more about the crowd than the car! Edited March 22, 2016 by CBR Jeff Quote

Moderators PB260Z Posted March 27, 2016 Moderators Posted March 27, 2016 is brave the correct word? Probably not, but it is not as offensive as what I would say to him if he tried that stunt in any workshop I was involved with. Quote
CBR Jeff Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 Not good practice but he does have stands under the car. They are just a long way to the rear. Luck he left the wheel on!! Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted March 28, 2016 Moderators Posted March 28, 2016 (edited) I didn't notice them, they are a long way back but hopefully ahead of the balance point. Edited March 28, 2016 by PB260Z Quote

daretobedifferent Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Haha I was just about to post this video up as well! Quote
HS30-H Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Turn the sound down.... And enjoy the view. Love him or hate him Daniel does gtet to see some nice cars. He's an idiot. A well-meaning idiot perhaps, but still an idiot. He's repeating mistakes that he's been corrected on many times in the past, and coming up with new ones to boot. I can't understand how someone can get so up close and personal with the cars in question for such a long time and still not get it. In this video he's getting data for the 432 mixed up with data for the 432-R. No standard production 432s were "picked off the production line" (that was the race cars/rally cars) and it was the 432-Rs that had the thinner gauge steel body pressings, not the normal 432s. He also doesn't seem to get the simple fact that all the 'early' (roughly pre-jan/Feb '71) bodyshells - regardless of denomination - had solid rear quarters and vented tailgates, and not just the 432s. This is pretty basic stuff. And what's this "Gee Nose, Zee Nose" stuff and the bizarre end credits ditty? Is he on meds? Six_Shooter and CBR Jeff 2 Quote

Jeff You're much nicer than I am then! Democracy is all very well and these days everyone is a 'winner' and all that, but the plain truth is that this field is a meritocracy. It's not really art. He has an obligation to get things right, and if he keeps making mistakes then not only does he need to have them pointed out to him, but so does everybody who views his work and is under the mistaken impression that he knows what he's talking about. Last time I got into a 'conversation' with him it was because he was mistaking a 'normal' 432 for a genuine 432-R, and he just didn't seem to 'get' the points being made. It was like it went in one ear and out the other. We can all get things wrong from time to time, but this character seems to make the same blunders time after time and brushes off any questioning/correction. Now there's even a guy on the YouTube comments backing up his claim that 432s had thinner gauge panels than other models, and that it wasn't just the 432-R that had them. It's like dealing with the Flat Earth Society or something. It'll drive me to drink, I tell you. Six_Shooter 1 Quote
HS30-H Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Curiouser and curiouser. Now he's gone to the effort of making an 8 minute video retort against "F*ckwits". He can't even read out the comments properly. It just doesn't do to let too much sunshine in on magic, does it? Quote

Then went back and looked at the "bad" comments. A couple of handles that look femiliar there. "Gav" and "lurcher". DO must be feeling very precious to have the reaction he has from just a couple of comments. They are comedic videos are they not?? Jeff Quote
GongZ Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 I have had a minor run in with Daniel too - he does not take criticism at all well. Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted April 3, 2016 Moderators Posted April 3, 2016 I don't even bother watching anything he posts. "Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience" Waching his stuff just increases his "views" count. Quote
