Not a worry mate! Was only going to drop by on a whim if you were home.

I hope Mel & yourself had fun in the City ;)

OK so wet day + the need to 'stretch' my brain caused me tio once again  address the whole filters and trumpets thing. So I went to Bunnings and Clark rubber with some ideas in mind and after some trial and error, some sanding, grinding and filing I came up with a very snug fit individual 'pod' type filter that slips over the end of each trumpet.  I inserted a foam rubber 'o' type ring which you can see in the pics which allows the filter to push over the trumpet and have a tight fit without the need to secure it further.  This is the prototype and I may make some mods as I go along.  The beauty of this set up is a mesh which the filter foam sits against and then a cap/retaining piece that can be opened to clean, replace the filter.  I'll have to do all of them then drive it to see if it makes any different under load.  This is all made from plumbing pieces!

Good ingenuity and plus one for the effort Rev, but it isn't my cup of tea.

I think it detracts from the look of the trumpet a bit.

Personally I really like the look of filters where you can still see the trumpet, kind of like below.

Now that I LIKE!!! problem is where to get them? I've been looking for some off the shelf solutions but nothing really available!

Hey Rev I just saw a set of three air filters to suit triple carbs on ebay under Datsun 260Z - they might be worth a try at $210.

If you want something like the photo you might have to make it. That guy made his whole intake.

Don't think it would be too hard though. Once you made up some dies you could press the mesh. Bending the clamp to hold the mesh would probably be the hardest (since you have to bend 6 of them the same).

I reckon a fine metallic mesh would be good as I burned out the foam on one trumpet on a back fire. My guess is you would want to be carefull with the mesh though as it will allow dust to go through.

When I spoke to Steve about these - he said on the pro-trumpets you had to trim them a little and use a good glue to hold them on. I too am thinking about what to do. My setup has the trumpet bell mouths almost touching = they don't fit inside K&N filters and the like :( so it will have to be a airbox/plenum type setup - but then you hide the trumpets and Steve's trumpets are soooo nice you don't want to hide them away :( so I might have to see if a plastic/lexan type place can make a transparent airbox up. I am not 100% sure what to do really so I am watching this space ;)

Rev I like what you have done - might not be everyone's cuppa tea but that solution does look to solve the issue of running an air filter on each individual trumpet.
