How do people find the fit of these aftermarket bumpers? I bought one but it's a smidge narrower from tip to tip than my original, meaning I would have to spread it a little to make it fit. Or perhaps pull the panels inwards some. But then there's nothing to say that any dimensions on my car are correct after so many decades.

I invested close to $500 in my rear bumper by the time it was rechromed, new rubbers bought (including the end caps that our market didn't get) and overriders chromed with rubbers etc.. and I still have to buy fasteners and paint the rear brackets in rust proof paint etc..

So price is not bad, provided the quality is there in terms of the chrome work and fitment etc..

I still prefer to restore OEM parts than buy reproduction stuff - I haven't seen this bumper in person to look at the quality vs my original but I did buy their aftermarket rubbers!

The chrome on this repro front bumper I have here - same supplier - looks very good. Whereas the chrome on my original 260Z bumpers was low quality, thin, no depth, when compared to, say, those on my (mass-produced / built to a price) Mustangs.

I called the gent just before. He is selling an open centre R200 plus a short nose viscous centre which when combined will be a long nose R200 with LSD... So it isn't really what is described in the ad.

I got a set of those rubbers and found them to be no good. The bolts were not in the correct place. With the end bolts, the inner end was about 5mm or so out from the start of the hole and the outer end 7 to 8mm from the start of the hole. It was a real stretch to get the bolts in the hole and due to the stretch the end of the rubber was no longer sitting flat on the bumper. When I then tried to tighten the bolt up just enough to get the rubber flat one bolt pulled out of the rubber. There was no square metal plate holding the bolt into in the rubber like the OEM, just a round screw head stuck in. I had an OEM bumper. So no good for me. Rubber is nice, just a pity the bolts are not in the correct place.

You could drill some new holes in the bumper so there was not so much tension on the bolts, but I just sent my back for a refund. It happened this week.

The seller told me they've never had any problems and have sold hundreds. Thought that was a usual story, especially since there would probably only be a few hundred 240s and 260s left in Aus. Must be sending a lot overseas.

I haven't tried to fit mine yet, but even the OEM ones need a bit of a stretch to get into the holes. So we shall see.

Do you know if the other gauges work in the 260z? This is a much cheaper option for me than the rally clock! Haha

None of the ZX gauges work in an S30Z.

However the clock can be removed and modified to fit in a 260z clock housing. This is how Ron restores early car clocks (in most cases) he converts to Quartz using these as donors, but they are getting harder and harder to find now.

Ah right. Good to know. Cheers Gav!

For a 45+ yo panel this must be as good as they get, i know it was hard finding a spare 20years ago so it must be impossible to find a good original one now. This ones been in my shipping container away from moisture for 15+years and was someone elses spare in storage well b4 i got it. Ur welcome to inspect but time wasters are not wanted. There are no signs of rust or repair.

I have stacks of zed parts. If ur interested u can:

1. Tell me what u need
2. Tell me what ull pay

Failure to do both those things and u will not get a response. I have almost 4 260z 2plus2 parts car.

A NOS one went for $1100 starting price on eBay recently. So yes 2K for a used one is a bit steep.

When and where did you see that on eBay? Was it in Australia or US?

I'd thought I'd seen it on eBay but maybe it was Facebook, &/or Gumtree ... sorry, so much media... anyway, it was the Datsun Parts Shop - was that the one you bought or another?

FWIW I'm looking out for a later 260 bonnet as I'd like to have a vented one.

That bonnet was a reproduction unit, not an NOS 1. So not sure how fitment is yet. I considered buying 1 but waiting on another I sourced in Japan to arrive, which I believe was a genuine NOS bonnet. Still waiting for freight company to contact me.

Oh righto, so not you. That was back in late July. So it was a repro, I wonder if Chris will find some more or if it was a one-off.

Given it was just up the road in Caboolture - I'm in Brisbane - I was tempted but decided I'd rather run a vented bonnet of some sort.
