The old LD28's are getting rarer, but I still find plenty in Japan. Of course price wise you pay for it.

What's interesting is that 10 years ago they cost about $900 - $1000 AUD. I don't really think the price has moved much. In part because it's the prep work for the crank that costs a good chunk of change. So other options become more attractive (best speak with your engine builder).

The big issue with an item like that is shipping costs, better to go via sea container route. But by the time you get it here you'll be up to $1,500 AUD or more (probably more). So not really worth it, given you'll need to spend more on it again once here. Better to find 1 locally if you can.

Do they pop up very often in aus? I haven't  come across them, though I've only been looking at parts for the last few months.

Not really, I sold mine a while ago and then suddenly there was a rush to put a few on the market and they all disappeared again. If you really want 1 I see plenty on Yahoo! Auctions but you'll have to get it here.

These seem like reasonable prices if OEM? :

Not sure what postage costs would be.

There's some good parts on offer, prices seem fair as well.

Cheaper than some of the other sellers out there.

I just might grab some items!

Edit: just sent a message to the seller asking if he will combine shipping on multiple items. Looking at his individual pricing for postage, it is a little on the expensive side unfortunately.
