I imagine it will go a lot higher.. I am guessing $50-$60k AUD maybe more?

Edit spoke too soon: 4,500,000 yen already - which is about $57,000 AUD.

Don't be surprised if it hits $70-$80k.

The same year "260z" in Australia would struggle to get $40k-$45k funnily enough..

That was quick!

Yeah the Australian market seams stagnant at the moment for most S30s

For most people in Australia there is not the spare cash to indulge on buying a fully restored S30 and probably not the interest in getting involved in a restoration given costs can blow out considerably due to hidden rust issues etc.

Yep, things are tough out there - even Woolies (through Dan Murphys & BWS) reported alcohol sales are down. When people in Aus reduce their drinking you know things must be bad.

Ok guys. The 1971 Datsun 240z Original Paint Car will not make it to BAT Online Auctions and has been pre auction purchased, so we will not get to see the fireworks that I am sure we all were curious about.

However, I was authorized to disclose the sale price of $72,500 because new owners understood it was my goal for a BAT Record Sale, so the new owner was gracious enough to allow me to disclose the sale price here. She is on her way to a new collection overseas, and the car will be preserved as it deserves to be.

We have several more notable cars coming soon, so please don’t hesitate to let us know if we can help, and please don’t hesitate to ask about pre auction sales.

Up for sale is my 1970 Series 1 240Z in its original Monte Carlo red (the most rare first year color option). This is the color combination you want--red over a near flawless black interior. The car rides on its original, deep dish magnesium wheels (a dealer option at the time) with all new Kumho tires. All original gauges and instruments work as they should. Windows roll up and down with no issues. Carpets are new. Original seat belts. Original blue plate, California car (NO RUST). Never in an accident--factory gaps are all perfect (new rubber seals). Car was repainted by Nissan and garaged since.

The engine was also rebuilt. Does not leak or burn oil. NO SMOKE AND TIGHT SEALS throughout. This car was signed by Yoshihiko Matsuo (head of Nissan 240z design team). I am the second owner, the first owner being a cardiologist from Newport Beach.

This car runs and drives beautifully. This is a CA well-maintained Z. Brakes work perfectly and a refreshed suspension make this a perfect addition to any collection. Wife says must go.

Contact Info: 323-six three zero-five five one nine

Japanese vintage, l24, all original 911 jdm California blue plate, twin carbs,
Muscle car European vintage motor sport

Wow. Nasty. Would have been a powerful beast until the sudden stop.

At 6.6L I presume the motor is a Chev 400 cu in. Not for the faint hearted in a light car like the Zed.

6.6 Litres plus a blower......, Probably could have seen the ending coming really.

Bloody hell! I read that and thought surely the decimal place is wrong being one place too far to the right, but then checked online...

That thing is one of the worst cases of ferric oxide I've seen - by the time it was restored there'd be little left of the original car. Agreed a very early and low numbered car. Surely a case of someone wanting the ID as I can't see much other than the glass being salvageable. I suspect #61 will mysteriously reappear some day having been 95% replaced.

#19 wasn't much better, but Paul @Ledge (who did the bodywork) reckons a lot of the original car remains. If you get new rear 1/4 panels, roof skins etc.. then the rest is floors/sills.
