NZeder Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 My guess is some form of roll protection hence the rear leg down to allow welding on the top of the strut towers, then with the inserts out an upgrade to coil overs and new inserts/wet legs at the same time. Quote

DreamZproject Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 I know that this build hasn't been updated in a while, but i thought it worth a comment. The scariest thing i have ever been in. The end. Quote
C.A.R. Posted December 8, 2013 Author Posted December 8, 2013 Suspension, Diff & gearbox upgrades coming over Christmas (if I actually get a chance to work on it!). Quote
Riceburner Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 I spotted some ITB's and a very tidy heat shield at the Xmas BBQ, I missed uploading it in my pics. Then there's the noise on the engine video! Quote
C.A.R. Posted December 26, 2013 Author Posted December 26, 2013 Time for a well overdue update! The main issue I don't update this thread much is because it's used nearly every weekend - and apart from the normal maintenance - I don't need to touch it! However... As Gareth alluded to in his above post, last financial year I got a fairly sizable Tax return & part of money from that went into these: EFI Hardware 45mm parallel throttle bodies & (courtesy of 'D3coy' - thanks Jake!) a Kameari 50mm manifold. Along with these: Also a set of SW Motorsport headers as the old generic 'Pacemaker' style set was stuffed! I've also had this for aaaaages: OS Giken 'SuperLok' LSD centre... ...which I've had fitted to my 3.9 R200, which I'm still yet to fit... Lastly the new 260Z based gearbox which I built with help from the 'Guru' & fitted just before Christmas: Specs are: * New Roller bearings. * Converted to Brass (Warner type) syncro rings with brand new syncro's on 2nd & 3rd. * 2.9 first gear * .86 5th gear. * All clearances checked & blueprinted. * Reconditioned shifter mechanism with Modified short shifter. And as the original braided(!) heater hoses & tap were looking VERY ordinary, I purchased a new set from MSA: I've also got a full new brake package to be fitted - R31 for the rears & Z32 calipers & Mustang rotors for the front with a 15/16th M/cylinder. I hope to make some time in the new year to finish it all off & get it installed. And I just have to decide on what I'm going to do about rims... I'll post more as things happen... Quote
Riceburner Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 very nice Lurch. Do I see some SWM headers in there too? If you can be bothered I'd love to see a 'how to' or 'sticky' on the R32 front and rear brake upgrade Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted December 27, 2013 Moderators Posted December 27, 2013 Awesome, your "Early Girl" just keeps getting better Looking forward to seeing it when I am in that part of town. Quote
mossy Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Ready for the drive day Lurch? I'd be interested to see how the l24 goes with the throttle bodies Quote

C.A.R. Posted April 10, 2015 Author Posted April 10, 2015 Wow, it's been a LONG time between posts. So, recent upgrades/improvements have been: Reconditioned 16" Simmons B45's & new Dunlop DZSPZ2 tyres. And then these turned up. Rusty. A bit bent, & fairly tired guards...: A phone conversation with Gordon Dobie reveled that he STILL HAD THE ORIGINAL OEM GUARDS FROM MY 'Early Girl'!!! I nearly fell off my chair when he told me he still had them, as I thought they'd have gone to scrap years ago. I'll be repairing them (RHS guard is quite bad), then locking them up in EP ready for when I restore the Zed in a few years time. You can't knock the smile off my face today Quote
Enzo Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Hey there Lurch, Great score on the guards. Fantastic photo as well. I like the ride height of the car just on the top of the tyres. The low down position the shot was taken from also makes the car look leaner. Sweet ride. David Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted April 10, 2015 Administrators Posted April 10, 2015 It goes well, very well. Trust me Scare ya did he? Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted April 10, 2015 Moderators Posted April 10, 2015 Scare ya did he? Nah not all, just had a bit of in the back streets with the Z and then on the freeway in 200 Series Quote
Riceburner Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 It has been too long, keep those updates coming mate. What a find with the guards and what a great memory Gordon has! Ride height looks perfect, have you done many miles on the dunlops, if so how do you find them? Quote
C.A.R. Posted April 11, 2015 Author Posted April 11, 2015 Thanks GMan The Dunlops have been great - I've done about 200kms on them, since getting them on the car just before Classic Japan last year. Diving home from that event in the wet didn't worry them - they gripped brilliantly! (So much so that when I gave it a boot out of a round-about entering the fwy, I expected a nice big slide. It didn't happen - they gripped & I nearly accelerated into the back of a truck!) Quote
KatoKid Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Looks great Lurch.....just right. Guards......nice! Quote
WA240Z Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Hi Locky, The Early Girl is looking fantastic. The mods you have and are completing has produced not only a fantastic looking car, but I image given your eye for detail and ability, a wonderful driving car. Billy. Quote
