What did you end up buying it for Jeff?

It was quite expensive imo, as I purchased mine for 6.5k albeit in worse condition (costed me around 1.5-2k for the extra parts for it to be straight, rust-free-ish (Datsuns are never rust free) and ready for paint).

I paid a bit less than ask, but not a great deal. I don't know how long ago you got yours, but if it's a 2 seater that is stealing it in this market. It wasn't cheap, but I think it was a fair price, for a car with very little rust, and a heap of parts. Basically I have 2 of everything and if something is missing Zak will source it. I think the days of decent 2 seaters under $10k on the open market are long gone.

Yeah mine's a 2 seater 240z. I purchased it mid-way last year.

Fair enough. I would recommend taking a look at all the areas inbetween panels if possible and at the seams. Z's rust like nothing else on this planet haha, even the good ones. But the one you purchased looked alot more rust free than others.

@Jeff can you let me know what chassis no. it is? I was going to ask Zak. I want to add it to my records.

I asked the seller for the VIN # on this car (already listed earlier in this thread), some how I doubt I'll get a reply. But it was worth a shot.

Definitely seems like a glass is half full kinda guy.

1971 Datsun 240z non rolling shell

Ex rally car, cams approved roll cage with log book. Car is 95% rust free just needs some front end body work time to get it back on the road. Spare wheel well has been cut out, comes with a rusty rear hatch, 2 doors, 2 guards, 2 headlight buckets, dash pad. Car comes with no drivetrain or running gear.

These are getting hard to find especially with little rust, make me an offer.

Nope, looks like a good buy for someone looking at a 2+2.

I tend to agree, it is pretty far gone. It can be saved of course but will require extensive work. The roof turret looks good! The rest not so much..

The funniest thing is he ends the advertisement with "These are getting hard to find especially with little rust, make me an offer."

I did think about this one for a while, and I spoke to the owner, but by the time I got around to it he had someone coming for it. If i bought it, I would have probably bought a complete 2+2 as well to scavenge most of the parts from. It was just too far gone. The only value was the Cams log book, but even that is questionable.

Datsun 260Z (number 921 off production line) fully engineered (new engineers cert) with 307 chev (engine reconditioned new bearings rings block decked and heads machined by St Marys engines) with TH350 auto box with Jag diff.(very easy conversion back to original if desired) all Datsun suspension. New bushes and rubber seals on front and rear screens, new door seals and new rear hatch seals (inner and outer) new front windscreen. Ford door mirrors, new "Rota" RBX 17" rims 9" front, 9.5" rear with brand new tyres all around large front vented disc brakes(292mm) and Hilux calipers Body is pretty good for age but not 100% perfect although believe it or not rust free the car was garaged for last 22 plus years original quarters and boot floor. There was very little rust when I got the car from my Father around 4 years ago who never drove it he just tinkered with it for 20 years it was engineered back in 1986 with a 350 chev .Heaps of recipts to go with this car. This is a very reluctant sale as I know I'll never find another one but its time for this car to go to make room and finance a new project

If your not a serious buyer don't waste my time or yours

This car is for sale $$$

Not looking for swaps!!!

On 14-Aug-16 at 22:49:06 AEST, seller added the following information:

heaps of Aeroflow goodies new carpet through out and a heap of chrome, freshly tinted windows. Rear quarters are not cut only rolled under flares

260z 2+2? Or find a rusty 240z/260z 2 seater and build it yourself, learn to weld etc..? Do anything, just don't buy a Triumph haha.

The bid is at 25k and its past its reserve, so if all the bidders are looking for a deal, it could end up going for 30-35k.

Dropped back down to 15K, not sure what's going on? It does look like good value for money, even if you didn't agree with the V8 swap it doesn't look like much (apart from the bonnet) has been cut.

sick of looking through listings of overpriced rust buckets, (and 2+2s, doesn't matter if they had rust- I prefer rust to a datto with an afterthought back seat ) Are people really that insane $$$$??? went for some class instead, bought a  2000 Supra TT
