Where is the gearstick in these - unless I'm missing something can't see one on the steering column or the floor ?  I thought maybe the stick behind the indicator stalk but wouldn't have though a 5 speed would have a column shift back then ?

I think you will find its further to the rear on the transmission tunnel. Just out of shot.

I am suspecting its not an original gear box and the shift is further aft.

It's not only you.. Does not suit the car at all..

 

Can't help but wonder if you installed flares and it was white/silver would it have sold for more in less time..

If I was to choose out of the two I would definitely get the red one. This is coming from someone that has an Rb26 in a 240z. But like Gav said. Get the one you like the most.

The red 1 has probably had the guards cut and has a little known rust which are a negative for me but has lots of mechanical modifications that are very appealing.

The other car sounds like it has had a very comprehensive resto and has the original guards which are an attraction for me.

In saying that I'd probably opt for the red one and cringe each time I look at the guards.

Koehr......better buy? never heard anyone ask this of a classic car before.....they are usually bought of personal taste aren't they? particularly as they are at two total ends of the spectrum in terms of classic period modified vs restomod efi turbo.......there is nothing really to compare......are you talking about cost to build or what? cost to build/conversion/parts supply/jdm bits and pieces all add up significantly. Resto mods are normally quicker as you can pretty much buy parts off the shelf as with the jdm build you often have to wait for/find the right pieces to put it all together and be prepared to pay big dollars for it.   If you are talking about collectibility the red one will see better returns in future- flares divide on this forum but its how they were raced/modified back in the day which is what really pushes classic sports car prices (proven race history/significance) so those that say cut guards are a negative I think are barking up the wrong tree. The thought that cars with uncut guards will fetch higher prices is only a reality for a concourse matching numbers 100% original car which are few and far between.  if you want possibly better reliability and speed the blue one. Other than that not sure what answer you'd be looking for. Think it like this, you can compare falcons and commodores eg. servicing, warranties and by reading reviews by those that do it for a living and have driven both but you cant really do that with old cars particularity ones that have been modified so differently, are 45 years old and have had their handling and mechanicals totally redone/rebuilt.......if you know anything about nissan engines you will know that getting good horse power out of an l28 costs big dollars 180hp at the wheels isnt too bad. rb25 usually out of a thrashed dubious km front cut r33 can get huge power with very little money. When I see turbo upgrade I usually read it as a cheap bigger turbo put on an older unstrengthened engine or the PSI turned up to a degree that will limit engine life greatly:) the reason you see more r32 gtrs on trailers than on the road:)

It was quite expensive imo, as I purchased mine for 6.5k albeit in worse condition (costed me around 1.5-2k for the extra parts for it to be straight, rust-free-ish (Datsuns are never rust free) and ready for paint).
