Thats an original colour isnt it?pretty sure I have seen a few of this colour around.........always liked the green and tan combo

Yep colour code 113 - same as mine.  I have (should say had - still haven't put it back together) a black interior though

Black "sports sills" were a dealer option, my car had them too.

looks good but i think its a different green in the engine bay to the panels

No engine bay is same, but the exterior has had a more recent repaint. Which is something to be mindful of...

Posted

Is it that or just that the engine bay needs a clean ?

Posted

Engine bay looks way darker than the exterior. If I had cash this would be a nice example but in saying that unless there is a lot of paperwork I always expect to be spending some coin on any z you buy.

AD DESCRIPTION

This 1973 Datsun 240Z has been restored over the last 10+ years. The restoration was a back-to-metal restoration with the only part not coming off the car being the diff. The intent of the restoration was to keep the car as original as possible. Where I could, I would clean⁄repair the original parts. Otherwise, I would source the parts from Nissan if they had them and if not, reproductions were used. All of the restoration work was completed by myself and father other than the exhaust system, seats and final top coats.

There are a few things that I have not kept stock. These are retractable seat belts, relay switched headlights, radio and extractors⁄exhaust system.

This Z has matching numbers and although I am selling it without registraion or RWC, the original number plates have been personalised and will be part of the sale of the vehicle.

Since being restored and returned back to the road, it has seen very limited travel, only being driven once or twice a year. Otherwise, the vehicle has been garaged. I have listed the odometer as it reads, but it is in miles, not kilometers. The odometer only has 5 digits and I am sure that it has already clocked over before I purchased the car.

I have kept a blog of the restoration with many photos of the work that has been performed. http:⁄⁄240z.drago.com.au⁄ There is also a gallery of photos taken during the course of the restoration and a list of parts that were purchased.

Datsun 260z Sports (1977) 2D Coupe - unfinished project with VK45 Infinity V8 engine and a 350Z 6 speed transmission;

"I have a 1975 Datsun 260Z coupe up for sale. It is a project I have been working on for a little while, but am now unable to complete due to relocation. As you can see in the pictures it has been partially diassembled. I have stripped the paint in the engine bay and removed all the clips and such in the bay in preparation for paint, just needs the holes welded up etc. I've also installed weld in adjustable camber tops. My intention was to install a VK45 Infinity V8 engine and a 350Z 6 speed transmission, both which come with the package, and can be seen in the pics. I have fitted a VK to 350Z transmission convertion plate, and a 350Z starter motor and 350Z new clutch kit. The body is in good condition, apart from a rust hole in the front left corner and a smaller combo of holes in the same place on the right hand side. Other than that, the rest of the car is in good shape. I've removed most of the surface rust elsewhere. Most parts are there and will come with the car. Missing parts are the left side front guard (had a big rust hole in it), bonnet and wheels. Car and parts are located in Silverwater if anyone wants to view."

Hmmm a rather interesting listing.

One just has to wonder just how bad "the rust factor" really is.

Having said that, 16 years since a respray wouldn't major problems have come back ?

I have a 260z x 2 seater I wish to sell. I have restored it mechanically. Body wise it has surface rust coming through after bad paint jobs done approx 16 years ago. Also, there is rust under passenger seat floor which will need to be “cut out” and new panel welded in.

The original 260 block was bored out. It has brand new SU Twin carbs, extractors, a 280 head and valves with a mild cam, a reconditioned rack and pinion steering. Also, it has a 280 gearbox.

It has original factory mags with new tyres.

It has approx. 64K since the overhaul and drives very well.It is currently registered but I will sell it as an unregistered vehicle.

Would suit an enthusiast.

If interested you can contact me. I've listed the price as $7k, but I'm negotiable and will consider any reasonable offers bearing in mind "the rust factor".

L26099008 mentions vehicle condition is average...

$7k neg is a pretty good starting price but I wonder how bad the rusted floor is.... and if the floor is rusted there's a good chance it's hiding other nasties elsewhere.

Yep while everyone is debating if it's worth the money someone will snap it up because S30z's aren't getting cheaper and a 2 seater is getting harder and harder to find.

It's complete, likely running and no sunroof. To be honest I'm not sure why it isn't sold yet.
