Yellow 260z 2 seater with sunroof in NSW

http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/wetherill-park/cars-vans-utes/1974-2-seater-datsun-260z-coupe-low-chassis-number-913-l28-240z/1069873534

i plan on looking at this car sometime on the weekend so i did a quick ppsr check on it.

States that the plates are stolen.

"Stolen: Plate, 09 Sep 2006, NSW, POL JUR-N REF-00277108330016595807

A stolen vehicle notification, or the absence of one, does not necessarily mean a vehicle is or is not stolen.

If there is a stolen vehicle notification you wish to enquire about, you should contact the police force in the State

or Territory indicated immediately after the date in the notification. The reference number at the end of the

notification should be quoted as a part of your enquiry."

can this be resolved or should i just stay away????!

I'd be checking the chassis / engine number rather than the plates.

Plates don't mean too much if it hasn't been registered for a while, although it is a sign to be extra careful.

A few cars popping onto the market lately, a sign of the times perhaps? Higher unemployment forcing people to sell toys free up some cash?

Or people who have been sitting on cars for a while deciding its a good time to take a tidy profit given the current state of the zed market ?

There definitely seems to be a resurgence of interest in Japanese classic cars 60's & 70's plus you have the baby boomers,..... some of whom are still collecting.....& others moving their classics on & downsizing,  .....certainly a new perception & positiveness of much higher values generally assumed by both buyers & owners, plus an expectation now of owners who actually believe the cars values are increasing, not to mention the rarity of cars now & spares for rebuilds, all this is good especially for zeds.

There is less of people not saying that car is only worth ????

This is because of limited vehicles now available so you pay the price if it is what you want.

Value is all a matter of opinion and market forces, It is relative with increases in general with other collectable vehicles comparatively of a similar nature until a culture of believers and majority of owners understand the cars benefits, performance, handling, integrity of the vehicles background, racing history, most of all its classic heritage which is brushed under the carpet as people in general realise some of this basic information then the cars will rocket in value. A bit confused on how a VIC plate of a style that has only been on issue since mid 2013 (and I would guess from the number this one was issued mid to late 2014) could be reported stolen in NSW in 2006.

For 30+k you should be getting a well sorted car that requires little to no immediate work.

The engine is relative easy and cheap to repair compared to the body so look out for rust in all the usual spots.

Good luck.

If you do not know too much about cars suggest you get a mechanic to look it over and also have someone look at body work. Not all expensive Zeds are good ones (but most are I would hope). I am sure someone from here would look at one with you.

He claims it is in 'brand new condition' but that's probably very optimistic haha!

Don't be such a pessimist. New cars come with cracked dashes, eroded seals and rust.

Does anyone recognize this car as being a members?

It's been fully "JDM'd" so to speak.

I had a look at this car, dont think he's a member - probably a lurker though.

From what he'd said it sounded like he'd done a lot of work on it in a fairly short time. Still seemed like a bit of a project, I saw it a bit over a month ago though - so maybe it's had more stuff sorted.

Did look great from a bit of a distance though (as in the photos), just when you got up close you could see all the little problems.

Not sure if anyone is interested in this Z432?

Thanks Peter, I'm very interested in that!

I'm guessing it will go over $200K USD. I might put my guess in at 250K USD. This is based on the KPGC10 going to auction recently and achieving 240K USD, given the PS30 is rarer and a lowish VIN I think it will have a lot of appeal to an enthusiast. Only thing I would nitpick is lack of original battery tray and cover. ;)

I give it 24 hours. Sounds like a gem.
