Administrators gav240z Posted February 21, 2016 Author Administrators Posted February 21, 2016 Nope, I just managed to get the photos and description before it was taken down. Ad says sold no longer available. Quote
andyk_79 Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Not surprised it went so fast. $4k is super cheap even when in need of a big resto! Quote
blu260z Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 (edited) It was only mentioned the other day about 260z 2 seaters and their value, let see what this sells for then !!! Looks to be in good condition but still needing some TLC http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=151990734505&alt=web Edited February 21, 2016 by blu260z gav240z and oldmates260z 2 Quote
GongZ Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 (edited) 1973 Datsun 240Z coupe (automatic) http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Datsun-240Z-coupe-/151990757995?hash=item23635aea6b:g:8M0AAOSw~OVWxU0t eBay Item number: 151990757995 ends 29 Feb, 2016 00:24:28 AEDST The car was listed at midnight and bidding has now (10:20am) reached $24,000 "Reluctant sale . Leather interior, underside and engine bay also restored. Older restoration in pristine condition. Has minor scratch on drivers door from opening . Apart from this the car is in sensational condition. Auto transmission recently overhauled . Runs and drives superbly. Be quick this wont last !" The listing states that its date of manufacture is 01/1973. However, the engine number is listed as L24-189527, which would make it one of the 09/1973 compliance plated cars. *Edit: Photos deleted due to Gavin posting the same car just after I did. I have sent an eBay message to the seller to clarify the build date/engine number anomaly. Edited February 21, 2016 by GongZ Quote

L24189527 Current Price: AU $24,000.00 with 6 days to go. I went and looked at this car personally when it was for sale at Pickles Auctions in Sydney. (March 17th 2014) Here is a couple of videos of this car. It last sold for $24,000 + commission which I actually think was cheap at the time considering how well the car presents. It was by no means perfect, but it's an older restoration and the engine seemed very healthy (fired up right away) and the car appeared very solid. There is a thread on here also when it was last for sale quite a few years back now (around 2005? maybe) and memory seems to think it sold for $18k back then. The car has not changed much since the last few owners. I was inspecting the car for member Alfadog who wasn't sure if it was worth that much at the time, but I honestly thought it was worth at least 30k a couple of years back. Interior sucks and looks daggy in my opinion, but would be easily rectified. If anyone would like to ask me more about the car just let me know? Hope it stays in Australia. . Brown looks better in person than the photos. MATTY 1 Quote
Dionysus Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Same seller as the 260z. Must be a brown fan. Quote
VintageNissanEnthusiast Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Yeah that slipped me up! I thought it was someone selling the same car! Number plates are almost identical! Quote

Please correct me if I'm wrong. Does look a little dodgy to be honest... Reminds me of my zed haha. ad_1455150302402.jpg ad_1455150310801.jpgad_1455150313918.jpgad_1455150317646.jpg Is it not the car that was sold in Clayton less than 6 months ago?I hope it is not as I bought the wheels of that car and it was so full of rust that the guy who had it simply gave up, he got quotes for repairs and it was over 12k just for rust repair. I considered it but it was beyond my capabilities and I am hands on. I think he sold it for $12,500 without the wheels. If it is that one then I feel sorry for who ever buys it as it is above $20,000 already on eBay listing. Edited February 21, 2016 by Iceberg Quote

Dionysus Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 I think the brown 240 will impact bidding on the black/yellow 240. Would definitely increase the budget for it. Quote

I hope that any potential bidder from the club understand what kind of effort this car will required. This wheels may not be Watnabes but I am very happy with them, offset is perfect. Quote

Administrators gav240z Posted February 22, 2016 Author Administrators Posted February 22, 2016 It will be interesting to watch alright, if the seller was smart they would list them at different times. Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted February 22, 2016 Moderators Posted February 22, 2016 Nice Car, and I suspect will go for somewhat more than $24, that assuming the bidders are real I would also factor in converting it to Manual into the cost and before you know it you would be getting close to $30K for a tidy 2 seater. Not sure about the Brown / Beige combo - not one of my preferred combinations. Will be very interesting to watch. Quote

Retro Z Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 I sold one of my old 2+2's to the guy years ago. I was told by his family member who was towing the car that he has and is collecting them. I recall he had like 15 cars at the time buying from all over Aus and storing them in a big shed on racks. Quote

VintageNissanEnthusiast Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 He is definitely bidding on them himself. The last 3 bids one the 2 seater 260 were within an hour of each other, $10,300 - $10,400 then $18,000. The last 2 bids on the 240 were $10,300 then $24,000. All bidder "4***2"Something about buying a car on eBay that I don't really agree with. Mainly something about buying something you've never seen in person I don't agree with. I was interested but I am not going in a bidding war with some guy trying to do a dodgy and sell it for an unreasonable price! Especially 6 days out are you kidding me? My 2 cents Quote
