Gurbachen Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 That definitely looks like the right colour. Does VicRoads change the colour on registration if a car gets resprayed? Because the rego on mine says Grey. Quote

Oh I only meant that the rego check on the VicRoads website says it's Grey, but that doesn't mean much if the entry can be changed on respray or what have you. Quote

Yep love it, those radio's are expensive now as I'm sure you've seen on eBay US. Just more confirmation that all 73's had the early hitachi radio, we never got the FM style radio in AU delivered 240z's it seems. I installed my JDM radio the other day. I didn't wire it up, but just wanted to fill the void of empty radio with the OEM look. (nb: no antenna switch). Quote

From memory ABC FM kicked off in '74 but FM didn't become mainstream until about 1980. I am old enough to remember 2MMM starting in Sydney. My '82 KE70 had an AM/FM push button radio and it seemed so hi tech at the time. Edited December 30, 2015 by PB260Z Quote

Car is in is in original condition inside and out. Body is rust free and straight. Total weight increase is only about 70kG and because engine is set back against the firewall the centre of gravity of the car is now further back and lower than the standard Datsun. This results in a more stable and better handling car. The standard Datsun solid front discs have been replaced with vented discs (see photo), with late model vacuum booster which gives excellent braking. The engine was rebuilt several years ago (see photos) but the car has been in storage since 2003. The engine has been bored .030” but is otherwise standard with 76cc heads and 4 bolt main bearings. It has had only a few hours running since the rebuild and is not yet run in. The horsepower and torque figures speak for themselves to indicate the performance of the car, when compared to the standard Datsun specs. Carburettor is Quadrajet mounted on Edelbrock manifold. Extractors are custom built to suit. I need the space in my garage and it is time to find a new home for the car. Price is offered as is, which is currently unregistered, but it has an engineers certificate and could be purchased at additional cost with 12 months registration and roadworthy, as an option. Quote
blu260z Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 The car is in original condition inside and out? Pretty strange this one must have been the only 260z to come out with an original 350chev motor. gav240z 1 Quote

The madness continues..... I bought this car The plan is to have it delivered here to Canberra where I will assess it and make a comprehensive parts list. I aim to order the parts from the USA and have them delivered here. The car and parts will go into a container to my guys in South Africa for a nut and bolt back to original orange colour, to be returned to me in Canberra, for resale. I'll start a separate build thread on it when it arrives. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted January 11, 2016 Author Administrators Posted January 11, 2016 It looks like a relatively honest car, so should make a great restoration candidate. My first 73 240z was also 918 orange I just found the engine number the other day L24 175807, so it looks like my 73 was later than this car. If you find out what the Australian compliance date was, please let me know? Edit looking at the S30z register details. http://www.wazregister.com/index.php?title=View_ANZIS30_Register Warren's old 240z. (Sadly Warren is now deceased). HS30-102195 had L24-165894 (Jake's car, is that you D3C0y?) HS30-102599 had L24-178126 So it's likely my old 73 240z was complied in June/July 1973. Quote

No Engineers Cert. Re the V8 car - if the engineering cert is issued by RTA (or whatever they call themselves this week) approved engineer then assuming the rest of the car is roadworthy NSW rego shouldn't be a worry. Re the RB30 in Vic with no engineering cert - that car would need to presented to a NSW approved engineer for certification. I would advise talking to an engineer before getting to serious about an interstate modified car. Cheers PB ScottyD 1 Quote
