There have been a couple of limited production projects to fully replicate some of the MACH and CHECKMAN steering wheels, and the product was pretty damned good. Prices were - ahem - 'reassuringly expensive'. For some reason the figure of 200,000 JPY or so comes to mind, but I'd have to check. I have photos somewhere too...

Hi Alan,

Just found this website.

http://www.rsmach.net/steering/steering01.html

It seems like they sell good looking replica MACH wheels. Is this the company you were referring to earlier? The only thing they seem to be missing is genuine patina. Once you add up all the components it looks like it will still cost over $1000 AU.

Since I've been looking at CHECKMAN steering wheels, and 432-R stuff I found a couple of links you may like.

You can see Ikeda Bussan seats in this PS30-SB.

Along with the MACH steering wheel.

You can also see this 240ZR has the same seats. (I'm guessing it's a CHECKMAN style steering wheel).

Here you can see another 240ZR with the Datsun Bucket seat and what appears to be a CHECKMAN or MACH style wheel.

Guess who took those photos by the way? :)

Enjoy.

So this appeared on Yahoo! Auctions and was subsequently removed just as quick as it appeared. I was watching it, it had 1 bid at 100,000 yen but was ended.

After missing out on the replica I was kind of disappointed and thought the legit/original item would be a good score, especially with a bit of patina to it.

Attached photos for future reference.

If you look at the negative feedback for that seller you'll see it was for a make an offer on that valve cover that was apparently accepted then rejected. It doesn't say the price.

The US Bob Sharp is a big deal..

Rebuild the whole motor with change....or by a rocker cover....

May seem crazy but I suppose it all comes down to budget and priorities.

Some would say having $20,000 or more tied up in project or weekend car is also crazy.

To each their own.

I must be certified crazy by most people's standards. Totally fine by me of course because I think McMansions are stupid.

You are in good company on this forum.

I hate to think how many $$ I have tied up in various toys - but I have fun.

Have you tried genuine under 280Z from the states?

Yeah, I tied MSA.

They could only supply 2 seater 1/4 panel badges. I ended up tidying up and using silicone to attached the ones I had.

Would be interested in new 2+2 if you know a supplier.

Cheers

Good luck boys and girls. If anyone is bidding on this?

Last 1 I saw went for $250 USD. Crazy...

If would be nice if it went to 240zrubberparts.com for replication

That is crazy, what is with prices these days ? Yes I realize people aren't always getting what they ask, but seriously ??

Can't imagine there would be enough demand for this part to justify making replicas.
