Administrators gav240z Posted August 12, 2018 Author Administrators Share Posted August 12, 2018 To be honest, it kind of looks like a potential diamond in the rough. It still has the original steel wheels! Which is rare enough to find these days. Being a 71 and looking at the windscreen pillars and inspection flap I think it could have been 907 Green too. It's also absent a sunroof, and the body looks like it's quite solid (left in some kind of primer), my guess is it was stored in a shipping container and moved out to make space and put under the pergola thing some time back (wheels have sunk into the dirt by now). If it comes with 90% of it's original parts inc. motor it may actually be a better buy than a couple of others that have come up recently. I would love to know what number it is, if anyone finds out please let me know? I'm always surprised that cars like this keep getting found, I suspected many more went to junk yards, but I think quite a few were put away and just left either in fields, barns or otherwise. Despite at 1 point the fact that they were not worth that much money.
Administrators gav240z Posted August 13, 2018 Author Administrators Share Posted August 13, 2018 HS30 103500 1973 model year, it looks like 907 Green, but would actually likely have been 113 metallic green originally (based on 103499's factory colour). https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/araluen/auto-body-parts/datsun/1192275298 Position of the doors makes it look like the body has sagged in the rear half? @zaxzeds this car is sister car to your Green Metallic car :). If anyone is thinking of going Pigeon pair. Lotta hard graft in this 1 I suspect. Quote Datsun $9,800 Gympie QLD. Datsun 240Z sport. Rolling body missing engine. banzaized
^^ is it possible that the doors (or window frames) are off a 2+2? hard to see how the back half could sag like that without twisting the roofl ine. Administrators gav240z Posted August 13, 2018 Author Administrators Share Posted August 13, 2018 Don't look long enough for 2+2 doors. I'm guessing they are not bolted on just offered up and sitting there, maybe tied down to stop them falling. May explain their odd alignment. Pretty sure this car came up for sale 12+ months ago, but I didn't have the number of it back then.

At some point in the past the front of the driver’s side floor rail has been hit and split allowing for the ingress of water and dirt resulting in a rust hole about the size of a fifty-cent piece in the driver’s side floor which has been stabilised with rust convertor. The gentleman I purchased it from (via a broker) was believed to be the second owner and had owned the car for about 27 years. I drove the car around for a couple of years in its standard trim complete with dealer optioned Magnum wheels and Aunger rear louvre until I decided to prepare it for the “Targa Tasmania Classic Rallye 2018”, a touring event which also allows for some spirited driving on closed road sections. During the preparation the car was rubbed back and repainted in its original colour of paint code 113 and then clear coated. The paint is about 8/10. Underneath is still all original as are the wheel arches which could be painted but I wanted to leave the car original in places. In preparation for the Classic Rallye, (which I can thoroughly recommend to anyone), the following upgrades were made. **More comments in link** gav240z
