  1. Holy shit - he's alive! Whoever the shop is that will paint it, will have it on their computer. Don't worry about it. Unless you're going to paint it yourself.............?
  2. It's a lean mixture at the rev range. I suggest a dyno tune to iron out the problem - it may require a new set of suitable needles in the Hitachi's.
  3. Merry Bah-Humbug you miserable bastards. I hope all your Zeds rust and that you get coal instead of NOS Z parts.

  6. A ball-peen hammer and a block of hardwood will get you started.
  7. Fill cooling system with straight water. Poor LOTS of oil over the camshaft. Turn over engine with plugs out to get oil pressure. Start engine and run for 20min @ 2000rpm to run in cam. Drop oil & refill. Let engine cool overnight. Re-torque cylinder head. Drive it like you stole it.
  8. Knowing Dickie, they'll be a few feet.
  9. Let me get this straight Dickie: The Targa-top openings were filled (somehow) and then Boat Fairing - which is an Epoxy - was used to fill in the area and make it smoother, yes? Epoxy is more or less the same weight as polyester filler. And yet, you don't want to use a skim of polyester filler? Am I missing something? Buy yourself a few wooden rulers of varying lengths (300mm, 400mm & 600mm) and wrap your 80-grit sanding paper around them. It'll follow the curve of the roof without creating divets. I have a professional 'Splining Kit' for this job, but the rulers will produce a similar outcome.
  10. It's a no-brainer. Hence why the majority of us in Vic with Zeds are on club permit. Being on permit also lowers your insurance premium too. Just join a car club that suits your needs - there was a topic on this posted not long ago...
  11. If you bolt each one up, how much free-play in the slave pushrod do you get on each one Marc?

Thanks to Sharron & yourself for putting on a great day again, mate
  13. "Instructional article by Australasian correspondent Matthew Ryeland."
  14. Robbie, make sure there is nothing behind when you drill the hole. Paint the hole after you've drilled it with any sort of paint - it doesn't' matter what you use, you wont see it. Use steel Rivnuts (not Alum) and preferably 8mm...
  15. Good stuff Linton!
  16. Oi, don't get me started, fella... And I'm not painting it twice - do you want it Red or Satin Black along with the tops of the guards?
  17. Have you repaired the replacement door and sent it down to me yet??????
  18. Meet at Lillydale supercheap @ 8:30am
  19. With the LH dogleg done, it was onto the to of the LH sill / door step:
  20. 2018 Menbourne Datsun Day 18th November - Yarra Glen Showgrounds - Melba Hwy (look for the signs). There is already a few of us going, so why not join us under Gordo's big Marquee. Food and toilets are provided. Just bring your Datsun or Nissan, sunscreen, hat and water. 21. So, next I started on the LH Dogleg where there was a previous poor repair. The main area of the dogleg was perfect, but the repair around the edge of the arch lip was far from good... The fact it had rusted through the inner wheel arch, made me think all was not well behind, but I was pleased to find that the sill under the dogleg was in great condition.
  22. So, with the shell, panels and parts back from the blaster, DB was moved in beside the other Z's. A few other things showed up after blasting: Large long dent in the LH sill. Rust pin holes in the innder guard under the battery tray. Top's of the sills had rusted through in spots. LH Dogleg had been badly repaired previously. RH Dogleg had pin holes on the bottom edge. Rust and dents around the sunroof hole. Floors and rails are stuffed. RH door is very sad (dents and rust holes) Guards have been poorly repaired. Hatch has a few pin holes. Lots of parking dents! Overall, I was pretty happy, and I'm looking at having all the rust repairs finished before Christmas. So, without further ado, I decided to start at the back and tackle the tail light / slam panel: After the repairs, it was all given a coat of PPG Epoxy. Next, the doglegs...
  23. Thanks for organizing another great run, Gordo!
  24. I have been dealing with Warren, along with one of my customers for the last couple of months, and he's been good to deal with. However he can be pretty blunt, and doesn't have much tolerance for people... Use him or don't - tis no skin off my nose. I just try to support local business's first, than dealing with US suppliers...
  25. Apart from the Silvermine stuff, Warren @ AllZParts in Sydney will have 99% of what you need: Zero four one zero four zero five five seven eight Contact him first, as it'll save you a shitload in postage, GST etc.
