Riceburner Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 The '565' ('Gorgo') sticker on the bottom of the rear valance identifies it as the replica built for Shun Koike by my friend Hideki Matsui of NP35. It was featured in Nostalgic Hero magazine back when it was first put together. Shun sold it some years back and I don't know the name of the guy who owns it now. Alan, was it an L24 taken out to 3L with triple 50dcoe's and a non g-nose front end? Beautiful looking car too, I bet it goes like the wind! Would this be the original that this replica was based off? I do prefer the livery and styling over the #23 type B car. gav240z 1 Quote

Would this be the original that this replica was based off? I do prefer the livery and styling over the #23 type B car. Yes, it was a 3 litre on 50s. As originally built it was possible to configure in both short and Grande Nose versions by taking off/adding parts. The car in your photo is Shun's car! I think it gets confusing because it got seen in short and long nose versions and with different owners over quite a long period of time (it was originally built in 1998/99). gav240z 1 Quote

Administrators gav240z Posted January 30, 2017 Administrators Posted January 30, 2017 So is that why you have a twin centre pipe exhaust your '72, Gav ? The previous owner Tony Barber who had my 240z, he had the twin exhaust done. I am not sure who did it, but when I quizzed Lindsay Drife at Z-shop he said a Mick at Clayton Exhaust used to do work for them (now deceased I'm afraid). It's quite well done (the rear portion anyway). When I first saw the car, I said to the owner the exhaust system was like the works rally cars. He then told me that a few people had looked at the car and didn't really know what they were looking at. From that point I think he was happy to sell the car to me, sensed I was pretty passionate about the cars I guess. So yes, it was a bit of a tribute to the works rally cars. I have since added the Rally Clock and may go further with it toward a works style car. Would love to find a sports option tach. and I love the modified gauges. I might already have a set of these.. and Kobe Seiko Rally Mag's well I'd love a set. But $$$. Quote

Administrators gav240z Posted January 31, 2017 Administrators Posted January 31, 2017 I was warned they were not very comfortable before buying them. I will have to wait and see for myself. I still haven't unpacked them. Quote
