gilltech Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 (edited) Pretty hard to find 260Z 2-seaters in any case, most 260s around are 2+2s. Pretty much anything priced under 10K is needing a lot of work, 2+2s included. IMO prices for 2+2s have climbed by the same proportion as the 240/260 2-seaters have. You just have to forget what you could have paid back then, & pay what someone will accept today, or you'll just get further & further behind & still have nothing in a year's time. Simple as that. It's all to do with supply & demand. Your friend made his move & won't regret it. Edited February 17, 2016 by gilltech gav240z 1 Quote
VintageNissanEnthusiast Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Well said. Its not like they are going backwards in price so whats the point! Quote
mick260 Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 I picked up my 260 2 seater 18months ago for $11500 Complete rust free, l28 turbo disc brake rear end bigger twin pot calipers on the front, Simmons, coil overs, just needed a few interior bits and pieces. Quote
VintageNissanEnthusiast Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Lucky mate! If you are thinking of selling it for the same price let me know hahahah! Quote
mick260 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Yeah it was a good buy. It was sitting on car sales for a month while other ones we're selling quite quick. In love with it now. Quote
MATTY Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Bout a year? I picked up a 2-seater 260 for $12k probably a year and a bit ago. Don't think I'll ever be able to get another one for anywhere near that again. Note the low AUD makes imports out of Australia quite attractive for people in Japan/UK/Etc. I think this has definitely played a part in it. I picked my 260Z 2 seater for 13k bout 5 years ago. took me nearly that long to find one to begin with Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted February 18, 2016 Author Administrators Posted February 18, 2016 Note the low AUD makes imports out of Australia quite attractive for people in Japan/UK/Etc. Wholeheartedly agree... #299, #596 and #675 (see thread here), have all been exported to the UK recently. Whilst I have no problem with people in the UK wanting an S30Z, it's a bit depressing to see them leave Australia. Less cars here = less of a market = less specialists / workshops to cater to these cars. So whilst I'm happy so long as they end up in good hands, I really want them to stay here if possible. We have so few left as it is.. Take a look at sites like: http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/and www.pistonheads.co.uk to see what prices are being asked over that side of the pond for a good 240z/260z 2 seater. It's my estimation that of the original 3000 or so 240z's brought here, only 10% survive today. So about 300, not all of which are currently on the road (many undergoing restoration). 260z 2 seaters were imported in even fewer numbers than 240z's. I can't recall the exact numbers now but that means there can't be many 2 seaters left in total. Quote
VintageNissanEnthusiast Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Very interesting, so 260z 2 seaters might be even harder to find that a 240? I am out of luck I think haha Quote
EJ101 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 last year a bloke that lives not more than 2km from me gave me first dibbs on a 74 260Z 2 seater complete orginal but in need of restoration. I said yes and was trying to organise a time to come around but he was busy that weekend then couldn't do the friday arvo either and then just as I pull into my driveway to start the weekend all happy I'll have a Z soon I get a txt "sorry car sold" it sold on gumtree I believe for $8500 Quote

Albert Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Hi Guys, I now own the green 240Z having exported it from Sydney to the UK in December. I'm trying to piece together the history of the car. I bought it from Classic Throttle shop in Sydney in October. I think they bought it from a guy in Victoria who only owned it a couple of months. I would really like to get hold of the Lithgow owner to see if they have any history or paperwork for the car. Can anyone help me with their contact details ? The car is H30 00675. Very original and only requiring some slight changes to make it perfect. I am currently repainting the car and doing some work on suspension and gearbox to make it perfect. Thanks for any help Quote

Administrators gav240z Posted February 21, 2016 Author Administrators Posted February 21, 2016 Already sold, lots of bog in the 1/4 panel but otherwise looks original and a good deal. Brown on brown combo seems to only have been available for 2 years. 74/75 and was phased out in 76/77. Quote
