Don't a lot of people run lug centric wheels? (wheel hole doesn't fit tight around hub)

I'm pretty sure majority of people run lug centric, id say hubcentric would be less common as its difficult to have after market wheels fit your hubs perfectly. Or I could be wrong...

I think you will find that 240z is of the lug centric design ie the wheel is supported by the studs 

A standard steel wheel has a gap of a few mm round the hub

Thanks Guys, 

My main concern is that I will be running big power from the RB26 and I might run into the risk of snapping the studs. Big power Im referring to 350kwatw which is much more compared to a stock L24.

I could run bigger studs but the risk will always be there

I noticed that the hubs on this build are also flush. Even when looking at the kit online the hubs are flush

Im using the SW caliper kit to suite the rear R33 GTST set-up. The kit has been mounted well and the disk, caliper fit and rotate well with no issues. 

So the issue I have is that when we put the disc on we noticed that the centre hub is flush with the disc and that when we put the wheel on the hub does not extend into the centre of the wheel. Its just hollow and the weight of the car will be sitting on the studs and not on the hub, causing the distribution of weight to be on the studs. 

Wheels are Watanabe 15 × 8 zero offset, Tyres are 225/50/R15 

Issue two is when we put the wheel on the wheel wont spin as it catches onto the real caliper. We can sort of solve this issue with spacers but I might run into another issue of having the wheel sticking out and hitting the inner guards when hitting a bump. 

I might need to machine inside of the wheels but I really dont want to head down this path as they are brand new wheels and I dont want to damage them in any way. 

Has anyone in the group had this issue? And what options are out there without changing my wheels

The SW kit is not the problem, the issue is the 4 lug centric. Might need to upgrade to a 5 stud and have bigger studs to be safe. 

From what everyone is saying and my research is that the 240z is not hub centric. Will just need to see as the build progresses.

Good quality aftermarket studs (not made in China) and you will be fine. When was the last time you saw any car with broken studs......most of the time when this happens its not because they were lug centric, generally it is other factors (stupidity) that cause it.

*Edit* 2:15. Picked the right video 8)

From memory Paul (forgot forum name sorry, Admirer from afar ) has 4 studs, With slicks, a sequential, at 800hp. 

I am sure you wouldn't have any dramas so long as the bolts were sure to be torqued correctly and checked regularly 

for reference A single M12 bolt/nut has a clamping force of 2200 pounds, *1000kgs.

Thanks Dave, I think I'll just head down this path just to be safe. From what I've seen there have been no issues with 4 studs with high power.

Dash looks great mate. Do you mind me asking what they charge for the redo of it? Guessing its all done with vacuum forming? 
also who did you use for the dash transporting?

Thanks mate, Dashboard Dr charged me $1,100 for the full resto, I had Concept Garage do the Ic7 insert.

I used Ego for transport from Sydney to Melb with insurance was $105

Dash areived today, quite happy with the finish. Has some imperfections at the inner glove box section but will be hidden once the glove box door goes on. 

 

iC7 fits quite snug and now looks complete. I wasn't sure how it would look when finished and Im suprised how well it looks complete

Hey lads, hope everyone’s been well!

It’s been a good two years since my last post. Unfortunately, a family health situation changed my plans, but praise God everything is well now and life is getting back to normal.

I had Andrew from Motorsport Solutions in Castle Hill sort out all the braided lines, fuel lines, turbo lines basically, lines, lines, and more lines! His workmanship was top notch. It was a bit costly, but looking at the quality, I’m glad I had him on the job.

The car’s finally out of its garage hibernation and off to the mechanic to finish up all the nitty gritty bits that my big fingers would probably break anyway (and I’d end up sending it out regardless haha)

There’s a long list I handed to the workshop, and they’ve been progressing smoothly. I’ve had to order a heap of parts 180amp alternator, starter motor, PRP timing kit, PRP pulleys, ATI Super Damper, timing belts, and more. Thought I didn’t need much… definitely wrong there!

Still on the list: I need to order the tailshaft, sort out the Hypertune intake, drive-by-wire full kit for the RB26 ITB setup, and track down a 370Z pedal. Also need to grab a flex sensor and a few other bits, these parts never end!

Anyway, it’s going to be an awesome journey getting this 240Z over the line and on the road.

Cars is very dusty and needs a massive detail when done.

Hi everyone just a fresh update on the 240Z build:

☆ Cold side fabrication is wrapped up and everything’s finally in place. Went with a Pac Performance shielded air filter

☆ Bosch drive by wire system installed

☆ Deleted ITBs using Powertune ITB delete kit

☆ Intake’s been shaved and holes filled, making it ready for a slick powder coat finish.

☆ Wastegate now plumbed back

☆ Rear handbrake assembly got completely custom’d after missing parts held things up shoutout to Stewart Wilkins for fabbing new pieces.

☆ Accelerator upgrade in place, complete with a DBW (drive by wire) switch. Can't wait to see the response 

Going to order injectors, going with 1600cc

Still waiting on the diff to come back with the Kaaz 2.5way installed. I had a chat with Stewart and he suggested detuning it by 50% and doubling up on the plates running it as an 8-plate instead of 16 to take some of the aggression out of it. Will be interesting to see how the Kaaz behaves once fitted… not exactly looking forward to the clunking on tight turns though.

Could have gone with a Hypertune or Plazmaman intake but wanted to have the Nismo intake look IMO looks much better and period correct

A few sensors have been ordered including a Haltech Can Keypad for Mo Power Mode amd Eboost 3. Interesting to see all the options now out there to fiddle around with settings.

Until next time, hopefully mechanical all done and wiring to be booked in. Have also booked in Engineer to inspect the car..... wow can't believe its nearing engineering stage

I am Without Speech!

The one thing that is bothering me is the bonnet release cable. I dont know what to do to hide it.

Any options out there?
