  1. If you can get someone to inspect at this one and if it is OK, then see if you can talk the price down to your budget ? https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/newport/cars-vans-utes/datsun-260z-2-2-1976-great-car-and-orginal/1177828293
  2. Welcome Callum, Given your "has to only have" requirements and budget I suggest that the 260z 2+2 would be your best option as, it appears, that even the 260z 2 seaters in fair to good condition are >$14k. If something pops up I am sure someone will post a link to it in this topic for you to follow up on.
  3. 1970 240z #211$24,000 Byron Bay, NSW. https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/byron-bay/cars-vans-utes/1970-240z-211/1180637293 Selling on behalf of a friend is this rare early series 1 matching numbers 240z. This 240z originally left the factory in green and still retains its matching numbers engine, early style hatch, early steering wheel and most of the other early bits which make it differ from most 240z's. The car is 95% complete, the engine runs and this car is an ideal candidate for a restoration for a show car or nice drive car. over all there is minimal rust for a 240z, there has been some average repairs done in the past but overall the car is pretty solid and doesnt appear to have been involved in any major accidents. Genuine enquires are welcome and these cars are becoming harder to find. Previously advertised on the forum : http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/16600-for-sale-x-2-1970-240z/

    Carpet Snaps

If you are going for the OEM look, the Type 2 clinch plate seems to be the ones used - (on my 1974 260z anyway). Not that these will be visible.

    Carpet Snaps

Unfortunately only in packs of 100 ! : https://www.comdir.co.uk/carpet-fasteners.html Edit : Search for "Carpet clinch plate" images - this may suit however how do you know the diameter of the male fitting? http://www.carcarpets.co.uk/carpet-fastener-prong-clinch-plate--stud-with-screw-61742-p.asp
  6. Not the 240z type but maybe adaptable : https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Datsun-260z-Seat-Rails/183160444246?hash=item2aa5369556:g:deMAAOSwL9paw2aV
  7. The guys from MCM are fitting a brake booster from a Hilux (@2:18) :
  8. Are the demister elements the more modern "wire" style or are they as per the originals? Maybe a photo? Thanks.
  9. Not sure if you're after the short internal ones or maybe these from Warren : https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Datsun-240z-260Z-Inlet-Outlet-Heater-Hoses-Selling-As-A-Pair/332597248696?hash=item4d705742b8:g:Rp0AAOSwsFVatto4
  10. This topic is a great source of inspiration and information for those looking at how to do things to a high standard. Seeing the photos of the jute installed I wondered what brand of sound deadener you used to spray the floorpans/firewall/trans tunnel?,
  11. How does eBay even allow these scam adverts? Same Seller ^^^^^
  12. Mighty Car Mods had some issues getting their Fairlady into Aus from Japan due to possible asbestos : http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/11464-must-watch-automotive-program-thread/page-11?do=findComment&comment=202455
  13. Not sure if it is a "must watch" but should be interesting :
  14. Pricey but fits your need :Harada Shokai Intake Manifold (1001 type) : http://www.jcy.co.jp/hrd/intake.html May be the same as the kameari branded intake manifold.
  15. Thanks Geoff, I sent them pics of the bezels and heard back it would be $220 each! (=ouch!) I presume, once they know it is a restoration and you cannot by replacements, a nice margin is added. Edit : Looks like these will be put to one side while I get the other issues sorted - maybe I will have to get the other set of bezels of my rusty 2+2 and revert to the patina look.
  16. Managed to source the 80845-E4100 for JPY3,097 (~AUD$38 each) from Motors Head Japan. Purchased two, as the only difference between the left and right ones is the angle the ends are cut. Postage from Japan AUD$20
  17. Managed to source some NOS felt inner door belting ex Japan, probably not really cheaper than reproductions but looks very good quality. Now for the challenge of "surgically" removing the old and attaching the new!
  18. FYI : 10% off everything at eBay - Ends Today.
  19. Thanks, seems like re-chroming is the only option to be sure you get a decent set (for the 260Z style).
  20. Decided to strip off the remaining chrome from the tail light bezels. The chrome was very pitted, cracked etc. etc. I saw that chrome plating companies may not accept plastic items for re-plating if the old coatings are still on them so after some Googling I decided that Hydrochloric acid (32% HCl at Bunnings) was the better option to remove the chrome and the underlying copper compound. It still took some manual "scraping" to get some of it off. Now for the shock of what the cost is for re-plating. Any suggestions as to where to get them re-plated? (Places outside of VIC also, as they can easily be posted)
  21. And if that fails, try some PB Blaster - seems to be the Bees Knees in the USA. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/PB-Blaster-Tyre-Wheel-Nut-Loosener-Penetrant-Catalyst-11oz-311g-Spray-Can/152627004535?epid=889697634&hash=item2389474477:g:ZEMAAOSwLEtYfuH1
  22. Various (hard to find) parts from a 1971 240z (Croydon, VIC) https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/no-regular/m.html?item=112873967957&hash=item1a47d01155%3Ag%3ApxcAAOSwNaRarMJS&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562
  23. I wondered what the driver might have looked like! Brought back memories of what the steering wheel looked like after the company sigma I was driving was rear ended many years ago - apparently I held onto the steering wheel very tight when I heard, then saw, the car about to slide into the back of the car.
  24. Iron refers to the rim design "Iron Cross" style which are alloys, they also have the center caps - saves you having to buy these ones https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/clayton/wheels-tyres-rims/datsun-280zx-wheel-caps/1162131969
  25. If you want the iron cross ones : https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/glen-waverley/wheels-tyres-rims/datsun-240z-260z-280zx-iron-cross-wheels/1177859079 In Melbourne as well :-)
