As an update to this thread: The tyre has been collected and is on its way to the UK. The tyre weighed around 10.2 kgs and with the required packing (must be shipped in a cardboard box) came to a total weight of 11.4 kgs. The tyre fitted exactly into a “reshaped” removalist cardboard box with new dimensions of 63 x 63 x 22 cms. I visited the local pack&send store and got a quote that was higher than that estimated on their website so decided to look at other options. After a bit of Googling, I found a website that quoted rates from a number of freight companies : https://au.interparcel.com/quote/parcel The cheapest was with UPS (~$200 cheaper than pack&send) who offered a door to door pickup/drop off service with tracking and delivery in 2-3 days. Strangely no one offered a “slow” non-priority air freight rate. Once you make payment they email you the proposed collection time details (I booked at 11am and they collected at 3pm the same day.) as well as all the required labels and customs documentation which you print out and attach to the parcel. You need to leave the parcel open for the pickup courier to inspect when it is collected.

Not sure if this wiring diagram (wire colours / connector type) will help as it is for the first of the 260z models and it appears the early 240z models did not have the L shaped connector.

A novel "Z" car conversion : 280ZX on a Range Rover chassis.

I think the two wires (green-white) shown in the last photo (?going to the sounder?) are for the turn signal flasher unit. Maybe this sounder has been added to make a louder noise when the indicator(s) are going?

Elderly lady owner purchased it 25+years ago but has been stored for 15+years due to ill health. It's a 1976 260z auto (comes with manual 280z box), body is pretty good. Few dings and usual paint fade. Not much rust, couple minor light bubbles in drivers door but not serious. And some on the cowl panel but early fixed. Has rust in driver and passenger floor but only small area. I have purchased new complete rare spare floor sections to patch up. I haven't started it since I bought it, needs new fuel lines and probably the tank cleaned out. However was told it was running perfectly when stored. Oil is clean and it cranks over fine. She was told it was a reconditioned engine when she bought it. Comes with the following new parts. -brake master cylinder -clutch master cylinder clutch slave cylinder -front and rear brake hoses -front brake pads -water ptmp -fuel pump -280z manual box -fixed back drivers seat and black passenger -bolt on flares. -rear Venetian Car is located at my folks property in withcott at base of Toowoomba range (1.5h from Brisbane) inspections to be arranged.

If you can see any evidence of metal on metal contact from when the mount moves when torqued up then maybe grinding off some of the steel from the "bottom" edge of the outer mount may assist (if this is the source of the noise?).

Not sure if this is relevant however, maybe as the 240z cross member was not as "deep" (36mm vs 43.2mm) as the 260z model then the later ('75 onwards) bracket is hitting on the base of the crossmember? OK, saw the tyre and yes it looks to be in great condition even appears to have the "talcy" type coating you get on rubber parts on certain areas of the sidewall. He indicated it was fitted on his spare mag wheel not a steel rim, he sold the mags and the purchaser did not want the tyre on the spare. Yep, cheaper in the US. As I was also replacing other mounts it is cheaper by around $260 to order from the US (I used https://www.nissanpartsdeal.com/) andafter the AUD$100 shipping cost you are $160 better off. Shipping time is 3 weeks (if you use the base shipping price) which is a similar time for Nissan Aust. to supply ex Japan.
