  1. As Jason said, just get one done locally then get your clutch/flywheel balanced. I did mine at a place near Springvale... near the big intersection of Springvale Rd/Dandenong Rd/Police Rd.
  2. Calder is pretty much gone..instead of dodging slower cars you have to watch out for potholes.
  3. I'd probably spray it with heaps of thick oil, get a few bags of silica gel and place them in one of those vacuum bags and suck the air out. No chance of condensation then.
  4. The inhibitor switch is in the auto itself, all you have to do is make a loop, and find the loom (from memory is a 4 pin plug) and just loop 2 pins (forgot which 2). There should be 2 wires for the reverse, and 4 wires for the inhibitor switch. Looms run down the drivers side of the gbox.
  5. Possibly...will see closer to the date.
  6. My guess is $1 more than I can afford.
  7. I'll be going down... hope its dry though.
  8. When I had my 260, the healights would cut out intermittently, found out the fusible links were fine, just the spade terminals had corroded. Squeeze them flat a bit with a pair of pliers and then re connect. To check, switch your headlights on, then play with the links. If still no go, check for faulty fuses as some look okay, but are broken behind the metal end caps. It's always easier to check the easy to get parts before you have to remove steering wheel covers etc. Headlight switches are pretty comon so that can be the last check.
  9. Have a look through the for sale threads for any 280's that are being dismantled.. Nice intro by the way...
  10. would've been great if you were in Melbourne... always curious to look at the samll differences between the models and markets. Excellent looking car too. nicely done.
  11. If you want to call ROb at the Z Factory in Mordialloc in Vic, he has exported to Japan many times..I can PM you his mobile if you want it.
  12. I can see this thread growing into one of those "what's that zed worth" argument again. We all know or have a rough idea on what labour is worth, then how much is a 240 worth with a good body. Then add all the parts needed and suddenly $69K looks pretty good for a car you can jump in and drive with NOTHING to worry about. Sure, out of reach for most people but what is time worth?
  13. If your other projects are to anything to go by, can't wait to see the Z32. Still miss the two I had previously! Specially the hardtop... pretty rare!
  14. Copy what I did..about as close as you can get..
  15. Just read this now so not sure what you have done but I'd (if possible) push it into the closest side street and taxi home then come back with some tools and try to diagnose what's wrong and repair. Unless its a major thing, late night towing aint going to be cheap.
  16. Evening gents... Yet another request for any Queensland members that live in or near Kallangur? I've bought a cheap largescale RC car and unfortunately the seller has been diagnosed with an ilness and he's been a bit hard to get a hold of. Plus he's now spending many days in hospital so it's been pretty hard to arrange a pickup. I've already organised transport, but just need someone to grab the car so my transport guy can pick it up. Can anyone help? Regards
  17. I suppose arguments and bitch fights counts as valuable info?
  18. Under crank there should be oil pressure; keep an eye on the pressure gauge and there should be movement. If not, you'll have to prime the oil pump and make sure. When I installed an RB25 that wasn't used for years, I was told "she'll be right..the oil pressure will come up once it started" if I listened to that advice, I would have had to buy another motor. I used some compressed air while cranking and that got the oil pumping.
  19. A drive would be good but after a little dry spell as everything is always so damp. I recommend organizing one now so by the time we are ready, it'll be late spring.
  20. Have you tried just touching the two wires that plug into the switch together? (not the switch side, loom side) and see if the reverse lights come on. If they do, switch is the problem. To test the switch, put your multi meter on continuity, and put each probe in each switch plug and put the gearbox into reverse and you should hear the multimeter beep. If not, swotch or wiring is toast. If you don't get the lights to come on by shorting out the two wires on the loom, check fuse again and bulb holder, wiring etc..
  21. I'm sure theres a couple in the For Sale thread...
  22. Include a price please...
  23. Check if any of the previous owners have any old pictures etc with the old rego plates still on the car...might help?
  24. Welcome AK, good to have you on board. With regards to CH reg, best thing is to work out which club you want to join and then attend a club meeting. There are several clubs that can do it and all have their own criteria you have to meet to register the zed. For now, a good set of 240 Hitachi's would be great as they work extremely well and are pretty cheap compared to triples and will help get the zed on the road quicker and easier. BTW, sunroof's never came out of the factory; most if not all were either dealership or owner fitted.
