blu260z Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Pete your car has made me appreciate the factor z rims so much more now. I was going to get rid of mine but I might have to keep them. Very nice work well done Chris Quote

I was going to get rid of mine but I might have to keep them. Very nice work well done Chris Thanks Chris, but to be fair and honest most of the externally visible work was done by Lurch. I took to the wheels with Autsol and buffer on a impact driver, got the imspiration from the Dadson thread. Ultimately I will be changing to 15X8 Alloys, but will keep the originals. gav240z 1 Quote
George Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 A picture is worth a thousand words. Well done Pete! You've worked hard and deserve to enjoy it for many years to come. Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted January 28, 2016 Moderators Posted January 28, 2016 Well done Pete! You've worked hard and deserve to enjoy it for many years to come. Thanks mate - looking forward to getting it out about in Sydney traffic. The plan is for the car to be used and used often. It will not be living in the garage. Cheers PB mother240 1 Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted January 31, 2016 Administrators Posted January 31, 2016 Peter came by today in his 260z, I could hear the rumble of some kind of exotic car outside, actually sounded a bit like a V8. Had a look out my door and there is this 260z sitting outside. The first thing I noticed is that the paint actually looks a lot better than a lot of the photos I've seen of it. Especially in the sun light, it's good to see an S30z on the road around Sydney. Made me a little nostalgic for my old 2+2 actually. Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted January 31, 2016 Moderators Posted January 31, 2016 Hi Gav It was great to be out and about in the Z, did near on 100ks criss crossing Sydney. I am very happy with how the Bus is running and looking, can't wait to see how she looks with the 15X8's Cheers PB gav240z 1 Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted February 2, 2016 Moderators Posted February 2, 2016 Hi Decided to brave the 50Km or so drive across Sydney in peak hour to the office today. Taking the Z made the commute almost enjoyable. She looks a touch out of place in the carpark though Loving the Z life oldmates260z and George 2 Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted February 3, 2016 Administrators Posted February 3, 2016 LOL, look how big modern cars have become. It's ridiculous. When I drive the 240z around Melbourne it feels so small compared to everything else. George 1 Quote
andyk_79 Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Staff discounts don't deter people from buying other marques by the looks of it Pete ? I think I see a Subaru (aside from the obvious Nissan/Datsun) Quote

The blue car next to the Z is the latest Camry - classified as a medium sized passenger car, the white one on the other side of the Z is a medium sized SUV. Quote
XYZ Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Hi Pete, Your car is looking schmick mate! The wheels look great - I've got the same and never knew they could come up that good. Cheers Quote

The wheels look great - I've got the same and never knew they could come up that good. Cheers Hi Mate Thanks - as the saying goes "They look good from afar - but are far from good" Will be getting replaced by some 15X8's in the next month or three. Cheers PB Quote
XYZ Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 "They look good from afar - but are far from good" To wit - the closer the grosser. What style wheels are you going for? I've had a hard time finding wheels that my wife and I like given apparently the "PCD" and offset limiting availabitlity of choice. I've found the Avid AV12 online which I quite like (sorry, don't know how to put a picture on the screen). Cheers Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted February 3, 2016 Moderators Posted February 3, 2016 (edited) Hi I am going very retro 80's - Simmons V4's in gold with polished lips. Basically I am building the car I wanted to buy in '84 but got talked out of. Cheers Edited March 6, 2016 by PB260Z Quote

Did you have to take it to an auto electrician?Hi Mate It wasn't working as the electronic ignition from ZX does not supply the same type of pulse as the S30 points ignition. Yep, Took the tacho to an auto instrument maker, he fitted modern electrics behind the old face and now it works perfectly. Cheers PB Edited February 15, 2016 by PB260Z Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted March 6, 2016 Moderators Posted March 6, 2016 (edited) Greetings Well the bus has been on the road for just over a month and all in all I am very happy with it. There are a couple of little things that need attention - one of them is huge amount of noise from the standard L28 fan. So today I consigned that to the surplus parts bin and fitted twin 10" thermo fans. Ony time will tell if I will neeg to fit a custom shroud, I have started to make one just in case. Boy it sonuds so much better. Edited March 6, 2016 by PB260Z Ponyo240z and andyk_79 2 Quote
