Hi,

Another update, and a happy one.

Picked up a new ECU from Alan (Zeds4ever) BIG THANK YOU for that.

New leads and plugs and.......

I have a running Z, (running rough but running)

Now to sort out rough running (smells rich) over the weekend and off to the Exhaust shop on Monday.

Feeling somewhat triumphant.

Cheers

Awesome, strange how the ECU just died like that? I really thought it was something else.

Lets just say it wasn't the only thing wrong.

Finally, got the bus out of the workshop and took her for a quick run up the street and all seems to be in working order - Except the tacho but that can for now.

It seriously needs an exhust system, sounds like a old race car at the moment.

Next steps

- Exhaust system - booked for tomorrow

- Wheel alignment

Then grab a trade plate and go for a decent shake down run.

A quick update on progress.

Suffered a small set back on the weekend - blew the exhaust manifold gasket.

Gives me a another reason to spend time in the workshop over the Xmas holidays.

Such is the joy of older cars.

Cheers

Have started the job of replacing the manifold gasket.

I will do the rest when I get back from Xmas at the In-Laws (will be in need of some "shed therapy" )

Cheers

Hi Alex

Yeah not the tidiest of setups and looks especially bad in that image as I have all the loom from the ECU rolled up on top of the rest.

Cheers

Found the source of the bump coming from the rear - no surprises really

Diff mount?

Well, what is left of one. All good got a new one from Warren a week or two back.

Now to check the diff ratio and see what that tells me

Hi,

Have managed to find some Z time in the last day or two.

I decided to replace the diff mount, that lead to removing the rear wheels and discovering a leaking wheel cylinder.

Easy enough, available from the local auto shop - problem solved (already had a set of linings)

While the diff was out ripped the back cover off and yep 39/11 = 3.54. That explains the less than spirited acceleration !

Decided I would take my time and start looking for 39/10 = 3.9 R180 diff over the next couple of weeks. While I was collcting the exhaust manifold today we got chatting about the project. I mentioned the 3.54 diff and the plan to look for a 3.9. My lucky day, headed home with not only the much needed manifold but also an R180 @ 3.9 on loan to see if I like the ratio.

So I now have some work ahead me for the rest of the week.

Clean and reassemble rear brakes

Fit inlet & Exhaust Manifolds

Fit 3.9 diff

All in all a good few days in my Z journey

Cheers

Good work with the diff that should liven it up a bit! I take it you are still running the auto box Peter? Will be interested to see what you think of the 3.9.

Cheers.
