Whhhaaaaaaaaaattttt???

Has the head already been mated to the block or are you setting yourself that challenge.

But you're the L series head pro?

Why not use an RB bottom end??

So many questions and I'm so intrigued.

Hi Peter,

I was really looking forward to seeing your car on the track in turbo guise.

Now, I'm guessing that "NC" isn't an acronym for naturally compressed but the initials of an elderly gentleman who is a bit of a legend in the Zed racing fraternity!

cheers,

Sinisha

Very interesting project - and a world first I bet - we know of the RB20E head conversion I showed on this site before, you do have to ask why the RB20E head is not that good - so that project was more about looking like a LY cross flow head would be my guess.

However this project that Peter is under taking is very very different. The RB26 head flows very very well in stock form - you could say too much for a small cc NA car ;) I am interested to see how this project goes as I am sure many other on this site. Peter well done for giving this a go. Interesting to see you converting to a belt drive too. Watching to see how you over come the water and oil gallery issues that will be the other interesting engineering of this engine build.

Pete, that will make for a very interesting build. It's a real pity that 2B Sports cars require the use of the standard head for the allowed block. Unfortunately for a Z that means L series top and bottom ends :-X

yes NC stands for Neil c  the man was well before his time, he has done most of this conversion but it got a bit to much for him at the time and it was shelfed for many years .I have been lucky enough to find it and reserect the project ,have Many things to address but am very excited ...... and yes the head has been mated to the block ,the boys new how to weld.... and they did some mad porting and it has monster cams

Would that be the same Neil C that sold a BMW harmonic balancer setup for the L6 many years ago also - a few made it over to this side of the ditch and are still going strong many many years later - ok rebuild/new engines but the same balancer setup that was purchase from one Neil C of VIC.

Nothing short of spectacular, and as you said there are do'ers and watches, nice to see you showing the way again as usual, when you told me about this a few days ago I couldn't imagine the sheer beauty of it now that I can see the pic's

Well done Buddy !

This is fantastic .. Good luck with it, however I doubt with your CV that you'll need it.

400 NA HP is crazy from such a small and relatively light motor. Can't wait to see it unfold.

Cheers

Adam.

Awesome Pete, this will be huge and fun to watch!! This will be the pinnacle of L motors as I can't think of anything that will top it.

FYI I finally finished my Z and drove it for the first time yesterday. Hope to catch up with you soon.

Off topic, but bloody well done Graham  :)

After spending years, no decades hidden in a garage. And somehow finding it's way into mine.

After looking at it, getting excited. Then actually looking at it, crapping my pants and chickening out.

It's great to see it's finally in the right hands and I'm sure we'll all get to see it finished now.

There are a lot of things that still need customizing, but you're definately the right man for the job.

Because you have to be totally mental to do this epic build.  :P

I'd wish you luck but know you've already got heaps of the issues sorted in your head. (to do with the build that is)

Getting to spend some time with a Z legend is also Z bit of a bonus.

It was real tempting to take a pic of all the parts on my garage floor with Peter and Neil sorting through and talking.

things that make you go hmmmmmmm  :o I think auszcar is realy pulling its own of late with some of the builds that have been coming out of the wood work.

I think we can definitely give hybridzed a good run for its money now!

Well done pete and a few other guys.. you all know who you are :)

Very excited for you Pete.....and the rest of us who can watch this unfold.

Un naturally aspirated engines are awesome for the power they develop but there is something magic about a berserk NA engine and is the true test of real engine builders. Kudos to you for taking this on!

I'm a relative newby compared to some on this forum so would appreciate a bit of background on this Neil C?
