peter mc Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Wow thanks GV, thanks for spending the time and effort .it grate to look back and see the path you have taken .the car was way to good to turn into a full blowen racer as it was such a nice road car. But z race cars just do it for me . We will defiantly get that photo. Maybe at the island in pit lane . Quote
PeterAllen Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 ... got the GTR R230 short nose diff to fit, made the tail shaft and got the gear box in... Peter - Did you have to modify the rear cross-member (the one the moustache bar attaches to) to install the r230? Quote
peter mc Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Yer it needed to be raised about 30mm in the center to clear the diff. It has to sit higher for drive shaft clearance as they foul the lower control arms. Not really the best choice because the 200 would have been much nicer but we got the GTR diff at a very good price. PeterAllen Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 I tried to go the r230 route myself but found the same problem and it could never be road registered with that mod - except as an ICV. I ended up fitting a Holden IRS diff which has the added benefit of various ratio options. Keep up the good work. Quote

I'm wrapped with the mods you are doing to it. I would love to get the PI's photos but better still on the track together side by side hard through Siberia or over Lukey Heights - would make some great pics. Quote
620Z Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Awesome car Pete. Would love to see that in the flesh eh flash one day. Quote
peter mc Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 hi 620z can not wate to chace you around sandown in this beast Quote
peter mc Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 .......Just a bit of an update on how the car is coming along! This wend i fixed the clutch throw problem and was able to make 90% of the side exit exhaust. Had to cut the sill to get the exhaust through but have added extra bars in the roll cage so the strength is not lost. I also fabricated extra bracing in the sill just to be sure! Covered the new exhaust well with heat shielding. Fitted front sway bar and mounts that was way harder than i was expecting!!! I got the speed sensors fitted to the diff so now i can actually measure how much slip the diff has and accurately measure wheel slip v's gps and front wheel speed which will be a great track aid! peter mc Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Another big week playing with Z cars with a few more things crossed off the list. Made new engine mounts, made all the oil lines for the turbo, made the clutch lines and the break lines then had to remove the clutch again as a pivot point was not right but it is now fixed but spacing the fly wheel back by 4mm........ which was harder than i thought it would be! Next will be wiring the computers up and making windows and then the utube video of the tuning of the engine! Quote
260DET Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Very impressive, great to see someone willing to spend the $ on a race S30 too. Quote

Fuel system is made up of 2 Bosch 044 motorsport pumps, -8 fuel lines & Motec fuel rail with pressure sensor mounted in it to interface with the Heltec dash.
