Sirpent Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 "Broke both drive shafts" "HP is not bad stopped at 350kw at the treds more to come" Geezus Pete I dont know whether to feel happy or sad for you LMAO So whats the plan now as far as shaft upgrade? Quote
peter mc Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 have rang romac and they are gowing to make new shafts and i am happy it ok i am sure i will brake all sorts Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted February 19, 2011 Moderators Posted February 19, 2011 I've heard Kenworths have pretty strong diffs in the back of their trucks.. you'd have to lose the IRS though.. Quote
NZeder Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 one of the guys that had a Donovan V8 in his racing 240z here in NZ fitted a speedway engineering IRS diff - never had an issue after that - back to U-J's but the size of them was...well massive. And as it was a race car changing the diff ratio was a simple task Quote
peter mc Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 it will be ok with the new shafts it is just very aggressive on the power i will pull some power out down low and make it more drivable it is more than a hand full at the moment but so much fun.... hope the spamaster puts some video up of the car Quote
lightmaster240z Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 The video camera is now on the frifz and want play the video back. But I have got some photo of the damage to up load in the morning ] Quote
luvemfast Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 WOW What grade steel is used to shear it in the middle like that? I was expecting on a join.... Quote
NZeder Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 WOW What grade steel is used to shear it in the middle like that? I was expecting on a join.... hrmm too me it looks like a Z32 outer welded to a Z31 inner making the custom length CV shaft setup - and it broke at the weld. So the result is some new custom length shafts - would that be correct? Quote
luvemfast Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 hrmm too me it looks like a Z32 outer welded to a Z31 inner Oh, that would make sense then....... You need to stop being a tight arse Peter and get some better axles Quote
NZeder Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 hmm closer look and I can see the plug-in axles bolt/nut so I change my guess to a Z32/R32 shaft that has been cut/sectioned/welded Quote
peter mc Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 the shafts are r32gtr and they twisted and snapped they were not welded they were custom shafts Quote
NZeder Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 wow impressive - looks like a line on the un-broken - that is impressive - that is some twist. Quote
peter mc Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 i was being a fool and did a big rev and dump with hot tyres on pretty grippe concreate and they went BANG!!!! Needless to say i had to put her back in the workshop with my tail between my legs and that ended my fun for the day! Quote
