Hi Stiva,

It looks like this one. I really like the aggressive rake and I think it complements the GNose and flares. This is my favourite picture of a Zed.

Yeah +2 David. It's the city auto 240Z, L24 2958cc, 87mm pistons, L20 rods, LD28 crank, MSR45 flat slide carbs, 270ps @ 7500rpm. Super stiff springs front 10kg/mm rear 14kg/mm with TRD inserts, bolt in cage that has been welded in place, electric power steering for the huge tyres. Does quite well at the JCCA events. It would be an mental ride, could shake some fillings out too  :D

I think the two outer pieces are meant to be riveted onto the body, sikaflex 252 should do the job and save drilling holes in the new paintwork. Should look good with the flares Stiva.

Few more pics

Thats the one, I think I might import it, but I am totally riveting the ends in as they were meant to be. I am going back to the panel shop come winter for a developing rust issue, so new paint.... Again!

Your car is looking really good mate, unique take on the mirrors and wheels to stand out from the pack. What are the new wheels going to be?

Hey mate,

if you are getting one of those spoilers I would be interested as well so we could halve the postage. Have to be careful with EMS though as they will not send things over certain lengths. Put in AUD and it comes up with $380. It looks to be the "works type B" rear spoiler as run by the factory cars back in the day. Let me know if you are bringing one in. Your zed looks awesome too btw. I might bolt/tap screw one on so it can be removed easily if desired, can always drill out rivets though. Cheers

No, but I have worked in design for a few years.

My alternator or regulator is dead, and I was thinking of going the RB30 unit, whats involved in the changeover.

Posted

I cant remember if i used the RB30 or RB25 unit, but it bolted up to the standard lower mount and top adjustable bracket.

From there, it was a matter of connecting up the large white wire to the charge terminal, and the field excite wire to the charge light in the dash.

Should be the same for yours?

Do you still have the ammeter shunt in your car? (if it ever had it?)

(I didnt have the charge light hooked up so i set it up with a diode to make it into a single wire installation)

I like the VS V8 Birdcage alternator myself. 120 Amps and wires up with a $12 clip. I changed out the front cover on the alternator of a stock 80 amp unit and it's now bolted to my Ford V8 in the 2+2. Holden alternator on a Ford motor to a Datsun wiring loom. About $300 for the 120 Amp version on ebay.

You'll also need to change over the sepentine pulley to a vee belt.

I've done it to my car, no worries  ;)

I think you can also use one from an EF/EL falcon ???

lol, forgot about that...

I took the V pulley off my old alternator and mounted it on the RB alternator, using a couple of spacers to get it sitting right.

Come to think of it, it may have possibly been a V pulley off a gemini alternator?

But at the time i had several alternators sitting around i could pull bits and pieces off.
