Stivva Posted April 15, 2013 Author Posted April 15, 2013 No progress, just new photos. Actually I lied. I installed new rubber seals on the top of the door window frame. I got them from Clark Rubber (Type 51) and they are fantastic. Quote
77260Z Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Looks mint. Gotta love those wheels, certainly makes it unique! Quote
Stivva Posted April 17, 2013 Author Posted April 17, 2013 hey guys. where can i purchase the imsa body kit as shown on the yellow z? Quote
Stivva Posted June 6, 2013 Author Posted June 6, 2013 Today's latest. I have a working heater! OMG, it feels so good to have warm air come out of the fan vents! Quote
Scoota G Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 I know that feeling. Had to travel back from Lurch's place with a hot water bottle once. Quote
d3c0y Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 hey guys. where can i purchase the imsa body kit as shown on the yellow z? There are usually a couple for sale on Yahoo Auction Japan. But it uses a regular G-Nose which I would get here because that would be the most expensive part. Let me know if you need help finding it but not that hard for someone like yourself. Quote
Stivva Posted June 6, 2013 Author Posted June 6, 2013 Should be ok, I think. I want to start with the Spoiler and move forwards. Quote
Riceburner Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 There's a few places in the USA that do them as well. ZCCJDM for one, Brians pieces are very good. Quote
d3c0y Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Should be ok, I think. I want to start with the Spoiler and move forwards. You can buy all the parts separately. zzzzed Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Didn't you say you were going to go for a change in rims? What's the go there. Quote
d3c0y Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 I think that the rims make this car. We can all run watanabes, fender mirrors and z-g flares lol. Quote
Stivva Posted June 26, 2013 Author Posted June 26, 2013 Truth be told guys, I haven't had a job for some time now and I can't afford to fill up the car let alone get wheels etc. So, I have the car under covers most times until I can get back on my feet, so I am pretty happy my old man picked up the 200B so I can play with something in my spare time on somebody else's money lol. Stivva Posted August 4, 2013 Author Posted August 4, 2013 Hey Guys, Been a big weekend for me. I still have no work, but I decided to do some thing on the car that won't cost me any more. I replaced all the bulbs in the dash with 4watt globes, which really has made a difference. I wired up the rear defogger and the indicator light that comes on with the defogger, I also wired up the original radio to light up with the rest of the dash lights. I am yet to find the power wire for the radio, but I will soon. Next job was the horn wiring, I re-soldered the wire that runs past the combo switch to the steering boss, and now I have power to the relay (hooray). I am yet to trace that to the engine bay, but I will soon enough. After that, I had to work out why my windscreen spray motor wasn't working, turns out it was just jammed up with rust? But once I manually turned it it was fine again, next was the wiper motor. The wiper motor just stopped working a couple of weeks back. The head light etc were dimming when it turned on, so I know it was getting power. I removed it and tested it to power and it was fine. Turns out on of the pivot arms was rusted in place, and preventing it was working. So, that is now soaking in WD40. I think I want to paint my engine bay while I am pulling it all apart... but that is going to cost me money Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted August 4, 2013 Moderators Posted August 4, 2013 Previous owners usually hack the wiring after the car has had at least 10 head units in it so the wiring naturally gets butchered. I find a good test light and a couple of hours of probing and you will find it. But zeds never had a permanent power; you have to make that one yourself. Quote
Stivva Posted August 4, 2013 Author Posted August 4, 2013 I actually found an existing modified permanant power and promptly removed it. It's the radios ignition power I have to find. The original wire is going to be here somewhere. Quote
Scoota G Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 On your fuse box on the lh side down the bottom you may have a blank fuse hole that just needs a holder for the output side of the fuse. Pretty sure it's acc power. I have a spare fusebox that i could send you the piece for to hook it up to power. I run my thermo fan off it. Quote
Stivva Posted August 4, 2013 Author Posted August 4, 2013 Sounds like a plan B. But what I am currently trying to do is restore all the wiring to as close as I can to factory. All the zeds had radios and they all would have been powered by acc rather than constant, so, there must be an acc wire under the heater controls that would have been for the radio in a past life. The other thing I have undrr here is for the hazard switch. The hazard switch is 5 wires and the only plug I have spare under the heater control is two prong. as stated earlier, defogger and light works as per factory so the spare two prong is not for them. Quote
Stivva Posted August 6, 2013 Author Posted August 6, 2013 Ok, pulled the engine bay harness out now... plucked the birds nest until it was workable and found all the wires I have been chasing. Also installed a cigarette lighter (VS commodore with green lens removed, perfect fit), new fusible links (VS Commodore) Excellent fit. Two new horns (VS Statesman) and found some dials that replicate the look of the original Radio dials (Mitsubishi Sigma). All the accessories are out of the bay, and I am prepping it for paint... I am splurging. Quote
Stivva Posted August 19, 2013 Author Posted August 19, 2013 Wiring loom is finished, it is a combination of new and old parts to make something smaller, leaner and neater. You can see the new fusible links and the firewall grommet. All new plugs for the horns, indicators and parkers included. Quote
d3c0y Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Nice work. While it's out though, can't you delete the external voltage regulator. Nearly every car i have seen is running an internally regulated alternator these days. Quote
Stivva Posted August 19, 2013 Author Posted August 19, 2013 Well... I hadn't thought of that. This may have to be a project for another budget. Quote
