SS30RR Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Oh and this! That is looking sick dude!!! Gloss is a million times nicer. Are you planning on sticking with those side mirrors? Quote
Stivva Posted July 26, 2012 Author Posted July 26, 2012 Yeah, I am going to stick with the side mirrors, I like them, they are different. Quote
SS30RR Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 I think the gloss paint really brings out and matches the wheels now......looking amazing the more I look at it. awesome man. Quote
Corsa224 Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Great shots, how did you get the car to sit that low, looks great Quote
Stivva Posted August 7, 2012 Author Posted August 7, 2012 I destroyed my suspension.... Currently on the lookout for parts to build new coil overs. Quote
Agno Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 those calipers look like S12W type, to go that conversion you need S13 rotors modified and an 8mm slip on spacer to go between the rotor and hub. just make sure you measure how much caliper clearance you have to your wheels, i measured the width of my stock calipers from the mounting ears forward and then checked the new calipers to see if they would fit under my wheels. pauly adams on here has a pair of the ones you bolt on your stock rotors for $100 if you want an easy swap Quote
Stivva Posted August 7, 2012 Author Posted August 7, 2012 I think for the time being I just need the original disc size type. I will ask Pauly Adams. Quote
Stivva Posted August 16, 2012 Author Posted August 16, 2012 So I got my new brake callipers in the mail and am very excited about that. I always have sent the rear bar in for paint and will be bolting that on shortly. I have installed the new centre console and gear knob and boot, looks fantastic! As well as installing the new gutter mouldings so thanks to everyone I have received parts from recently. I also took the car out for a night spin tonight without having to hardwire the headlights and with all my indicator lights in tact, so that means my auto electrician did a good job. Now I am chasing the factory radio and door trims once they go in, the interior is going to be a-whole-nother story. I want the car to be like a time machine, looking fresh as (trendy) on the outside and once you enter the cabin, it will be a completely different story. Also popped into the Northern Road wreckers today (I just happened to be passing by) and there was a 280zx there with rear brakes, I asked for a price and he casually said $300...... not sure if he expected to sell these soon. LOL what a chancer. I certainly hope he doesn't need the money from the sale of those calipers to feed his children. Car is looking really good mate. Quote
d3c0y Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 If you are still wondering the badge for the back is the same as the ones on the front fenders. Quote
Stivva Posted August 18, 2012 Author Posted August 18, 2012 Yeah, those photos are a few weeks old, I have that badge on and only have one external, badge to go which is the Nissan badge I was chasing in another thread. But that has since been found and I just need to wait on that and the dash badge come in the mail. Quote
Stivva Posted August 27, 2012 Author Posted August 27, 2012 Just a quick update. I picked up the z emblems for the rear quarters today. They look so great brand new. I also have that last Nissan badge on order and the fairlady Z dash badge arrived and is in. Swapped out a broken tie rod end.and gave the car an alignment, much better. I am waiting on a few things in the post, and from the panel better, but I will do a full photo update when those things happen. Quote
Stivva Posted September 5, 2012 Author Posted September 5, 2012 I now have original door trims and an original radio, but I need the bracket that holds the radio in and the knobs for it... can anyone help me? Quote
Agno Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 I got my knobs off a Volvo 244... Or an old Volvo of some sort I don't remember. Very similar spline diameter and fit on pretty well. They don't really look like the stock Datsun items but hey the work and they look period correct. Quote
Riceburner Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 I like the gloss much more. It's a great paint job, still looks wet Quote
sexual_sushi Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Awesome photos, I have never thought to take one on boat ramp :/ Quite unique! Quote
Stivva Posted September 13, 2012 Author Posted September 13, 2012 Would anyone happen to have photos or details of how the radio is mounted inside of the centre console? What are the brackets and bolts used??? I have looked everywhere and cant find a diagram anywhere? Quote

YosemiteZed Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 Hi Only seen some details in the Haynes 240z/260z workshop manual for the original radio page 164 two brackets on the radio and also two brackets on the side wall of the console cheers Phil Quote
saxon Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 yeah there are two bolts that as Phil said. Face plate is held on by the tuning and volume nobs. Quote
YosemiteZed Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 Hi Stivva The bracket on the console is a single bracket that bolts to the two sides of the centre console Check the png file attached (thats bracket part ref 5) Quote
vramjee91 Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 I think I have one from my old 260z, I'll try and find it and let you know tonight. Quote
